OMG Penelope, every once in a while her listings get posted here... It's just too funny!! She should add.... "For at least 2 weeks...." Oh, wait a minute... Let me fix that... "FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS." LOL 'Thing is... These people are everywhere... On ebay, at flea markets and antiques shows, in the shops and co-ops.... Life has never been "Fair" and it never will be... Blow it off and move on.....

The easiest way to set up a specific search with omitions and all sorts of other "specifications" is to click on "advanced search" This allows you to do stuff like search the title AND description, search completed listings (I use this a LOT before listing my items, to see if there's a market... You must be signed in to use it... Why??? I dunno....) There's a space for excluding words... There's the option for "Any words, any order".... But, at times, the option "Exact words, exact order" comes in handy... That doesn't limit the search to ONLY those words. They simply have to be in a title exactly as typed. This page is one of ebay's greatest tools!!! PS... For some reason, searching title & description doesn't work on completed auctions....

I love the shape of the ketchup!! And, how times have changed to the warning we have on products today, from the declaration of "without drugs or poision" as a promotional campaign!!! LOL The Pluto is SO cool!!!! I can see taking the broken ones and making suncatcher's out of the bottoms!!

Hey, if I can have a listing for a piece of Lenox china pulled off of ebay for using the word "Ivory" in the auction, you guys should be able to launch a campaign of reporting that might just clear that out... At least for a while... If 10 people reported every single violation for a solid week, would it make a difference?? The rules are there for your use... Give it a shot!! Being proactive beats out complaining any day!! Ebay seems to be more receptive to this sort of thing than they were a few years ago... If you wanna get it started here, go for it!! If there are a few "Major Offenders" post a link to their auctions... If you set it up with a direction and some links for others to follow, you may be able to make a difference... I don't do the marble search on ebay... But, if you post some links of auctions to report, or a link to a string of auctions to report, I'll find the time to do it for you...

Edna (Sissydear) had PM'd me about the pontil... She said she hadn't ever seen one like that on a Gentile before.... That pontil is the only thing about it that really has a vintage look. But, I still can't fathom it as antique....

I don't know about who manufactured them... But, Pelts or solid color seem to be the "usual." I wonder if they manufactured that peewee size for the jewelry, or were they used for the jewelry because Pelt made the peewee size??

That's so cool!! I have a necklace and single strand bracelet in the same sort of "cage" setting... But, they are all solid color marbles. And, odd colors for marbles, too....

'Shoots that theory all to hell, huh?? ROFL Jesse & Frank James 1872.... 'Not sure how fast fashion changed for men. But, these sure look similar....

Well Bill, that was refreshingly honest!!!! ROFLMAO!!!

I would expect that she's standing in front of the quilt because she made it... I do a LOT of hand sewing work... And, I think, if I had made that by hand, I'd probably have the same expression!!! Like Galen says.... "She IS smiling!!!!" ROFLMAO I would love to see that in color!! Any hope of getting any info from the location of the yard sale??? Wouldn't it be a thrill to find the quilt!!!!!!

Very Cool!!!

Cool Beans, Duff!!!! What's that look like??? 'Sounds funky and cool!!! LOL

I think Don's got it about right.... Aside from that first glazed china (514) At the average 3/4" - 7/8" size, I'd think $15-25.00 might be about right... But at it's 1ΒΌ" size, I'd think it might have a lot more value to it... Maybe even $100 or more. The size is really extraordinary!! #595 is really cool, too... Alleys are pretty popular lately. A buck might be a little conservative... But, most important... You don't need to alter your insurance policy, or plan on an early retirement. You've got a great little treasure to sweeten the work your doing!! The house likes you and it's "giving back!!"

'Sorry I'm a little late on this thread... We had some "water Issues" here!! I'm so happy for Debra & Whitney!!! I met them at the NE show last October and they're just so cool!! I hope they kicked butt!! LOL Chris and Pete, if you made it, please send pics!!! And, enjoy the party!!! (Let's see, it should be about 6:30 PM there, now??)
-
Oh WOW!!!!! I'm probably just a bit too late to wish you luck, Debra & Whitney!! I wish I could be there!!! I hope you showed those Brits that a couple of women from the US could whip their butts!!! If you see this before, ENJOY the party!! (Isn't there a roast pig involved???) We're proud of you!!! PS... I'm forwarding this thread to Bert Cohen... If he hasn't already, I'm sure he sends his love!!!

WOW!! How NICE!!!! Yeah, I guess that could be considered a fairly common design... But, even at that, not a common marble by any means and that size is fabulous!!! As far as a name is concerned, "Glazed" should be added to what has been said. It has a finished, glazed surface, rather than the more common "unglazed" chinas... I'd be walking a little above the ground after finding that in my house!! Congratulations!!! BIG TIME!!!! OK..... Let's see some more!!!

I'm so sorry!!! I didn't know Dave... But, I know what it's like to lose people like him. So, it feels as if I did know him... That "Greatest Marble Show" has just gotten a little better!! He's amongst some great friends... 'Hugs to the family and friends who have lost him....

Ahhhhhhh, so close indeed!!! LOL My first comic was an Emma. It came in a pair of mason jars that I bought at an auction... This was "pre-marble book" era... So, I had no idea what it was!! My Mom looked at it and said, "Hey, I had one like that!!" She went into a trunk of her old "memories" and pulled out an Akro marble bag, with (amongst other things...) a Bimbo!! I collected up to 11... I think I needed a Koko?? Then, for some reason, I ditched the whole idea and sold all but the original Emma & Bimbo.... Keep up the search and Good Luck!!!!

The insertion is capped at $2.00 for auctions starting at $200.00 and up.... I can't enlarge the pictures in the auction... My computer has been a little funky lately. Can anyone else enlarge them?? The pictures are just too small to get a good clear look at them. It sure would be interesting if these were somehow authenticated as Native American... Has anyone else seen any that were?? David, it seems like you or Bert would be the "Go To" guys for that kind of info.... Possibly, Alan... Though I've never heard him mention any "confirmed" in his past digging experience. Confirmed or not.... We need to lose a few zeros to that opening bid!!! LOL
-
I meant to comment on that, too.... Nope, I've never seen a marble that was absolutely ID'ed as Murano, or Italian... Though, I know a lot of artists who have either studied in Italy, or attended class by Italian masters.... So, it would seem there may be some... I don't think they'd hit the market this way, though....

Most definitely contemporary... Not a bad buy for 10 bucks or less!!! It doesn't ring any immediate bells for me, as far as a maker.... But, it seems to fit the MO of a John Gentile aka Gentile Glass.... The colors and pattern, the size and the fact that it's not signed... That would be the first place I'd look to research it...
