  1. I wasn’t collecting marbles before any Akro digs took place, but I have read in a variety of different places that Popeye patches were quite rare in circulation prior to the digs. I bought a group of like 50 blue/yellow dug lot of Popeye patches for cheap that tells me something changed drastically after the digs. Alan’s words describe the situation perfectly. They are cool marbles without a doubt.
  2. Lots of makers made simple folded swirls with buttcracks, it’s just common with lots of JABO Classics. There are lots of JABO Classics without buttcracks too. They are helpful clues for sure, but far from steadfast rules.
  3. It sure looks like a Popeye patch to me. That orange is sweet!
  4. My joke wasn’t clear enough on my end. I was just showing this group of Ravenswoods I found together that people might believe are JABOs too simply because they are a same run groupfreaking JABOs (these ones aren’t Heatons). Have to be JABOs if same type is found together. Just trying to have some fun
  5. That is folded all the way. It isn’t even patchy. It’s a swirl. Now that’s cool. Have only previously seen Popeye (corks) and Popeye patches. It’s a new class of Popeye in my eyes. Since you said it was from before the Akro digs..,how did you even attribute it to Akro folded like it is? How long have you had it?
  6. Ron’s in lots of books you will discover. He will always be the Godfather of West Virginia Swirls.
  7. Most of the marbles in the bag are from 2003, but I see a few that are not and that is unusual for those dated bags. There is a Tie Dye lookalike in 2003, but that looks like a reall 99 Tie Dye instead of the 2003 version. There is a 98 (sort of red white and blue) and a Spring 99 (jade colored) marble in there too.
  8. freaking JABOs (these ones aren’t Heatons). Have to be JABOs if same type is found together. Just trying to have some fun
  9. The ones in the middle row are the ones it looks like to me. They are 3/4”.
  10. Looks like a JABO Sammy’s Big Brother to me
  11. Most Vitros are patch construction and most JABOs are swirls. Good starting point to differentiate them
  12. Here are some factory dug Cairos in blue/white for more chances to compare
  13. They are just different variations of white/blue Ravenswoods
  14. I haven't figured out a reliable way to tell the moss agate Masters and Akros apart (hasn't been a real area of interest for me yet). Is there a relaible way?
  15. I believe I have a note about it in my run list. It was one of the Tribute members I think. Sturtz knows. Jeff Hall aka "Truck"
  16. Maybe it’s easier to see some other types separated in my tray
  17. comparing marbles to known examples is without equal. Here are some known white base with blue swirl Ravenswoods. Sure there are others not included in this group but its a more relaible comparison to a number of Ravenswoods than you will be able to find anywhere else.
  18. some Jackson blues for comparison
  19. yes-back in November 2015 there was a Blenko Run. Both 5/8" and 3/4" marbles were made according to my notes. Let me see if I have a pic of the marbles...
  20. After reading the colors…yes JABO. On my phone it looks like blue with transparent green and I couldn’t think of a match.
  21. It very well may be Ravenswood.
  22. I have transparent green Jackson’s that are UV reactive. My Ravens and Alox are not UV reactive. The white isn’t spread out across the whole marble on any of the Jackson’s though like yours
