Nice marble! Jeff-I also mistakenly believed the white base with blue and orange were also Winnies…they are not. They do seem to be a little less common than the white base with blue and yellows.

And at least 2 additional companies in France and Germany made what we classify as Euro Sparklers.

We could use the pictures as a training tool for recognizing what orange peel is. Just saying.

You can see the orange peel in the pics fairly easily especially in pics1, 2, and 3. Did you mean to say there was orange peel?

I have superglued marbles back together myself a few times. It works very well actually. No I haven't sold them ever though.

Steve Sturtz included Classic production estimates in one of his books, but there were still many many many runs made after. Without any doubt there are more different JABO color combos of marbles out there in the world than any other maker by far. Vacor may produce more quantities of marbles overall than any other maker, but still limits themself to a limited number of color combos. That doesnt really answer your question, but the variety of JABOs out there in the world is mind boggling. If you add in Dave's other marbles at DAS, SMM, and Champion...his influence in the marble world will be felt forever.

These are the marbles that actually taste like Jawbreakers

some of the Bogard Catseyes header bags are stapled right on top of Heaton labels (and are Heatons instead of Bogards inside). It was an unusual thing done at Bogard with some of the old Heaton packaged stock. I can’t tell if there is another header underneath or not from the pic.

I wasn’t collecting marbles before any Akro digs took place, but I have read in a variety of different places that Popeye patches were quite rare in circulation prior to the digs. I bought a group of like 50 blue/yellow dug lot of Popeye patches for cheap that tells me something changed drastically after the digs. Alan’s words describe the situation perfectly. They are cool marbles without a doubt.

Lots of makers made simple folded swirls with buttcracks, it’s just common with lots of JABO Classics. There are lots of JABO Classics without buttcracks too. They are helpful clues for sure, but far from steadfast rules.

My joke wasn’t clear enough on my end. I was just showing this group of Ravenswoods I found together that people might believe are JABOs too simply because they are a same run groupfreaking JABOs (these ones aren’t Heatons). Have to be JABOs if same type is found together. Just trying to have some fun

That is folded all the way. It isn’t even patchy. It’s a swirl. Now that’s cool. Have only previously seen Popeye (corks) and Popeye patches. It’s a new class of Popeye in my eyes. Since you said it was from before the Akro digs..,how did you even attribute it to Akro folded like it is? How long have you had it?
