Got To See This Machine...
Gnome Punter replied to William Marbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I am with Ric. While I do not know these machines, the sphere does look like a spot of dry would shoot it out of the cups -
Yup This will be difficult When she ships I will get some pics posted. As I said, they all look the same to me and these images sort of say the same to me
-
Ok Common is amber Less common is cobalt Less common Clear What about green ? Any other colors ? Also Can I get a visual representation of a CRAZY WILD pattern vs a normal...Guineas all look the same to me. All of those dots...my brain just files them as all duplicates
-
Does anyone know whom would be the foremost person to speak with concerning Guineas in the hobby ? I have several being shipped to me next week that a family friend wishes me to sell for her. I am Guinea-clueless beyond what someone could google. I would want to know the order of rarity,in-relation to base color, pattern, coloration, size, etc, etc Thanks ahead of time. I will put up pics when these arrive. She has sent me a medium flat rate box of Akros,Marble kings and Alleys to start selling for her and it will be here Thursday and I will post images of these as well to give people a "crack" at it. I know there are 2 Water mellons and several hundred Cac flames and slags as her husband had been collecting Christense marbles for nearly 40 years. I do not want to go the .99 Ebay route on the guineas as the market is terribly soft right now and I would do her little justice in letting a marble that could potentially be a 300.00 marble flop for 200 or a rare version bring a few hundred when it's potential could be in the thousand range. I am not a consignor, I am doing this as a favor. Granted, I get pick of any Akros I like as was her insistence (I declined several times and realized she was one of those people who would feel like she was doing me wrong by not giving some compensation)and she made sure to send me a few supermans to ensure I have some "gravy", still my motivation is to help someone who is utterly clueless and facing mounting debt. Not to use the personal problem angle to generate sympathy and increase sales yields, but to place her situation out there as my motivation to help.

Our "Yellow Submarine" was sued by Paul McCartney who evidently holds the rights to all things Beatles. Was a great sub sandwich stop. Wasn;t going to be big time, was a great spot for locals ...but sir Paul clearly felt that the title and appearance was the soul source of income for the resteraunt and felt people wre being ROBBED who felt they may be visiting a Beatles ...business? Sir Paul is a douche http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/109/854733/restaurant/Yellow-Submarine-Chattanooga Sadly I can find no pictures of the place. I understand propriety rights and such but I also think there is a point where the owners are jsut being greedy and petty and..there, I went on a tanget

Been on this planet far long enough to know when someone is ******* with me I don;t even know what it would cost to polish a marble. Rich has prices on his website for cooking one I just wonder if the price is cheaper since there is only surface damage
-
i know JACK about pre machine made. You will have to explain what you mean as well as examples I have them in small amounts but I just don;t care for them and I have limited knowledge on them. I can tell cores apart, etc, but as far as in-depth learning I have never bothered
-
BTW Are you back from Canada ? I have a 2 inch monster that needs some minor loving on. Granted a polish would do I bet, still, I would rather go the melt path...since I cannot find a reliable polisher
-
But I still have not found anyone whom does repairs or even how to attempt to purchase the materials to construct a polisher to play with one myself I have so many vitro beaters to practice with

I would like a polisher for my own personal marbles that are damaged that I would rather keep than toss in the bucket of blah and doom I found a website but MAN is it confusing http://www.theglassmarble.com/sphere%20grinder.htm How about some more images of people's polishers ? Maybe I will have an epiphany and ask a lot of questions !! -
Marble Cyberauction #1109 On Aug 4 2013
Gnome Punter replied to BobBlock's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Ok, I am in on some and I sent you an email via your site to add me to the auction date list for future auctions ,if one exists -
I have told several ebay sellers about these when they have them listed. If you have ever held one in your hand you know right off the bat. They have a smoothness to them , a luster. It is hard to explain I see the painted one's all the time as well. People come in with GOLD and leave with modern clay. I feel like crap telling them, but I know they will want to sell them if i do not.

Reproductions And The Damage They Can Do??
Gnome Punter replied to lstmmrbls's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I think your denial is coming in the form of splitting hairs That is not how it works these days. People SEE marbles, get curious and peruse ebay to see what they THINK they have. When I got into this I SWORE i had 100 CAC bricks...mine were just a LITTLE different...now I KNOW they were all WV solid color swirls ( NO laughing ). But the thought that I had valuable marbles got me to LOOKING at more....and then I started to buy and buy and buy. All I had to do was buy a pile and...figure out WTF I had bought. So then comes the books and...the utter confusion, then the google search for how to ID,then the found forums, then the confusion as A tells me the marble is a "Z" and me going HUH?!?! How ? That is the progression, trail and error. The curve is those who are passionate about a hobby VS those who think it is fun,get frustrated and flake. It is not like teaching math or a new language. Either you are a passionate person or you are not. So all of the knowledge in the world , if you are not passionate, would simply make you....a picker out to rip one end and gouge the other in MY MEAGER opinion BTW? Anyone want to buy some WV solid color swirls ??? (THAT....WAS A JOKE!) -
The Elements Of A Good Marble Show

My view would be easier.....location. It seems the BULK of shows, if not all, are north of Tennessee or west of Kansas I could care less if it was an all jabo show, if there were one within 200 miles of me, I would go and I do not like Jabos.....how bad is that ?? -

Gnome Punter replied to Gnome Punter's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
That's just it...you cannot tell enough to know either way IMO Factoring in all of the CACs they listed over the last 2 weeks makes me learn to the left end of the spectrum rather than towards the..border -
I have never had an issue with Royal air mail coming to my house. I would go for it and be positive

Reproductions And The Damage They Can Do??
Gnome Punter replied to lstmmrbls's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I thinking you are making a big assumption there. I understand similarities and I understand pattern preferences. I also understand how some people try to mimic because of love, like, pleasure. I do not think they are intentionally crapping on older marbles or their collectors intentionally though. -
Difficulty With Pair Of Ebay Listings
Gnome Punter replied to Gnome Punter's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I was thinking Red Devil as well Part of that was by looking at the sellers past sales and the marbles offered. I was on the fence and let it go by. It was cheap enough I should have let math take over instead of my heart and purchased it. Be out 15.00 or score a 200.00 marble for 15.00 Ah well, sometimes over-thinking closes doors that are wide open after the fact. -

I was sure they were furnace as well. I can see where Vacor COULD be a choice there, but there is something else I cannot put my finger on it. There are some nice marbles there -

My apologies winnie, I misread your posting to the point of assuming you mean how uncommon the Japanese transitionals were in-general
-
Yes I have a green one but it is terribly bland compared to yours. I can TRY to take pics of it,but it is terribly difficult on the dark one's because it reflects the light as it is dark to the point much of the light doesn;t pass through it. I CAN give you a cursory view though, with minimal detail lol I do wish mine were closer to yours in color and activity, but....I have what I have and they do not come up online too often on the bay These were taken WITH direct light with under lighting from the base I do not colect marbles in this condition. A moon ruins a marble for me,but this was the 1st one I had acquired, it was random and they are fairly uncommon,so I keep it in my desk as a reference
