I swear this was in the marble ID section lol

I dunno Joe gives a pretty standard example Mine look more like his than yours. If you need I can dig out the camera and shoot some pic TO ME and my novice level of exposure, it looks modern. Dave would know and I think Clyde would know, Duffy would know....umm....I think if others look they will tell ya for sure

American Marbles Auctions Card In Todays Mail
Gnome Punter replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Sami, post here the date the items are open to bid on. I know, sounds stupid, but I will forget otherwise. I miss a lot of Bob's auctions because I forge the date unless I am told the day of,within a few hours of starting If you do not mind that is ! My money spends well, I just need to be pushed from time to time -
I would love to go...but the wife gave me that "Are you crazy" look I figured I would come and show you why the postal service flees in terror at my gaze...!!!! My postal carrier, my regular, got a kick out of that postal debacle

I am sorry if I hurt feelings by saying cats were worthless. I find them undesirable to my tastes, much like the majority of Jabos left I understand a difference in taste is ok and I was giving my POV, albeit it I should have worded it differently in that other thread

I thought I was going to be able to level my "near" unparalleled knowledge of silver-age comic books for a minute.....I was fooled !!!

The down side is it specifically says marbles in the description...oh this is bad lol
-
Oh this is bad lol Rhynes is a "knock off" distributor here where I live. They are 16 miles from me. When ever you see reproductions of Cast iron banks, Black Americana and so on, it is produced by Rhynes. NOW...Rhynes motivation, in my meager view, would be for glass ware and the such as they deal mainly in home decor and secondly in reproduction collectible pieces. Not sue if they will be buying marble machines and cranking out new Akros, but if they did buy this, expect the market to be flooded with reproduction glass ware with the Akro stamp on them

I think some think they can and if they have a hunch, theyi assume the worse I had a guy tell me 10 vitro helmets I had sold him were polished....which seemed off the wall. I asked him how he could tell, he said they were "too clean" I know there are a lot of tell-tale signs and I know there are a lot of assumptions based on scratches as well, so I can say...I have no idea nor am I worried about it If I list a marble and there is a concern, I ask galen,Leroy and Clyde and base it on the consensus of those 3. Nothing else to be done I suppose.

Bondo, remolded fiber glass and fabbed parts are how many are restored. sometimes that one part cannot be found and people go the direction of custom building that part. Lot of that is done on older engines as well It's splitting hairs on this topic as it applies to actual personal preference to the topic rather than something written in stone. 1. the act of restoring. 2. the state of being restored. 3. a return of something to an original or unimpaired condition. 4. restitution of something taken away or lost. 5. something restored, as by renovating. 6. a reconstruction or reproduction, as of an extinct form, showing it in the original state. 7. a. the work or process of replacing or restoring teeth or parts of teeth. b. something that restores or replaces teeth, as a denture or filling. You don't restore teeth with other people's teeth :0) You don;t restore houses with the same wood most of the time and you don;t restore furniture in the same fashion....semantics and personal preference, period.

White on nothing counts IMO. My point, which I thought was horribly clear, related to math...1-6 by no 7th
-
Mine has 6 colors and no green Mine has BLENDS, which I do not really consider colors, but there is Salmon and brown on it so I dunno. it's ugly and I will end up selling it more than likely The Irish I found in a jar full of pelts for 35.00 and i was happy with that.
-
One would ASSUME it would be the 3 primary, 3 secondary and...no idea on the 7th it could be assumed that in this case they are counting white? The marble steph called Patrys has 6 colors unless you count white
-
Swirls, dips and Hooks. I have sold most that I have owned and the last one I sent to WVRON Not a fan of them TBH. If they were BIGGER yah...but they are small
-
That was what I was told The 7 applied to it having 7 colors I would rather one full blend, no white either.
-
Yah, I saw that worthpoint as well as figured it was a vitro as well lol The mystery continues !
-
Well, this is my 3rd Watermelon so I will be unloading it for cash or for some nice Akro ades and ox I still want to find out what the whole "lucky 7" thing is. If it was something the seller used or if it was a local name or what. I am unfamiliar with it.
-
These came in this week. Watermelon,True Bengal,Wasp and...something they called a "Lucky 7"..so I dunno there

Odd Ball Or Normal Divided Core ?
Gnome Punter replied to Gnome Punter's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Yah, in-hand it is solid blue all around the middle Actually Leroy did this one. I sent 3 to Rich and a few to Leroy so I could TRY to learn how to recognize polishing methods seen on marble surfaces Still clueless aside from the half-horse shoe thing -
Odd Ball Or Normal Divided Core ?
Gnome Punter replied to Gnome Punter's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
It had pontil marks and was fogged over to the point of you not being able to see inside the marble. I had Rich torch it off for me so it could be seen again. I was told it is called a jelly core lol -
Is it just those over 1" ? I have a matching pair of Amber corks that are 1 1/8 each
-
I sold several marbles for a lady recently and she had some like this in them and I just realized it was a 3 color and not a 2 color haha Damn I wish my eyesight were better
-
I can see both of those sides very easily. Myself, I do not mind polished marbles for ME. Understanding the hobby as it is the last thing I would want to do would be to sell or palm off a polished marble, hence why I ask people to review my listings as I can only tell of 2 tell-tale signs of polishing and there are so many I'm in it for the beauty That is why I am looking for a nice 3-head machine so I can repair dozens of Akros I have that have flea bite madness or moons. These are for me and not anyone else

Well thank goodness for that
