I would THINK you can make them as big as you have the tools and strength for I would also think the cane or mandrel (Not sure of these are used or the cane acts as one) would have to be sufficient to hold the weight

Nahh THis is a High Grade Vacor Galen, with your expansive knowledge and exposure to many of the Christensens knock offs, would you please post some of those ? My fear is I will end up with a Guinea knock off or some other higher end and not know any better If you have time that is And thanks

Galen, I think you are splitting hairs with the restoration remark I would see it as restoration. If you replace paper in a book or treat a decaying painting, you are restoring. Those processes of restoration ADD something to the item, but it is still restoration. When you restore furniture...and god knows I wish my wife did not, you take away wood,pain,stain and usually add hardware and paint. You ADD to it and restore it. I know you are a purist,and that is perfectly fine by me, but sometimes the drum you are beating sounds more like a tin can I would also add....I think all of this is moot as Killermarbles has not posted again lol

Looks fairly modern to me or it could jsut be the parallel lines that would make me think it was mechanically polished. Mica looks nifty, but some of those colors I have not seen in an older handmade yet,so I assume it is much newer.

great one Jeeper I have had that happen a few times, cross fingers and run with it on bad photos. Got a few Silver Oxbloods that way and 1 egg yolk...GRANTED....I have also won several to the point I have a HEALTHY Mega Marbles junk pile as well

But..what if it is NOT left alone ? I mean..Aliens attack, crap gets blown up and the marble gets chipped ! BUT, If already nice and new looking, it can suffer those alien barrages !! I think he means making ugly glass look pretty like it used to and I have no issue with Germans done this way, hell I have 4 on my desk as paper weights that Rich did for me...in the condition PRIOR to Rich's work, there were in the glove box of my work truck..embarassing looking little things, treated like step children, dropping them caused an eye brow to raise...in their pristine and beautiful appearance now, if a kid looks at them I run them off...

OH I have ALL KINDS of fun with my listings I get messages all of the time. I started to mention Galens name in one, Clyds in another and even Rich;s name,but then I was worried that I could cause someone distress over a misworded remark or some such and decided not to I also wanted to mention the website here, but again did not wish to potentially cause a head ache as if I offer X and there is an issue and they re-read and see a name or the sites name and are angry, how it could cause problems... THEN AGAIN...if no 1 gives 2 shits, I will have some fun in 2 weeks when I list the next pile:P AND YES....That was a continuous penis reference in the woody listing

I dunno This whole reapair thing is baffling to me on every level I did a deal with Rich and got 3done that were in 3 different states of repair and I did a deal with Leroy for the same so I could have a REMOTE clue what you guys see.....and fail on all but knowing what Oxblood that has seen heat looks like ( A blind man could see this though so no brownie points for me ) and a missing pontil. I also see how heat can meld some glass ribbons together. On machine polishing I can see where some moons get a funny shape and can have the semi-circle appearance , the horseshoe look. as well as how some marbles seem to have "cracks" deeper in the glass and once layers are removed get one wierd looking marble with cracks here and there that some would call annealing. Not sure what caused this,but I can tell the difference , at least in ones I have, between that type of appearance and machien polishing,vs annealing from some MK marbles I have that appear to have been fracturing from paly I duno, I am still lost and confused Galen, my apologies for not grasping this quicker

Well, all of this is up on the bay now I put the GUinea up as well as took the superman down as a BIN item and put it up as a .99 auction. Put up a few hundred pelts,got tired of sorting and trying to tell 1 from another. If it were MKs it would be different, but I dont like Pelts Anyway, those that bid,good luck. Whatever it sells for is fine in most cases. Just trying to help out a lil old lady...where is my humanitarian award ?

I used multipl LED lights Light box came in today Those will be better to some extent I notice that some colors blow up under LED as well
