  1. I have been unable to get to get on Yuku since yesterday, whether I use IE or Firefox. (And I'm not on AOL).
  2. Sellers Peltier was part owner of Marble King, and Pink had jobbered his marbles for years. Berry Pink simply changed the name on his "Champion Marbles" boxes to "Marble King", but probably continued to use Peltier marbles for some time. Remember, even the early Marble King mesh bags had Peltier Raibos.
  3. I realize that Marble King made some patch and ribbon style marbles a few years ago to deter the diggers, but they wouldn't have used oxblood, would they? All the recent Spidermen with oxblood that I've seen have that thin whitish line in the blue next to the red. That would seem to indicate same run production. I thought they were all dug.
  4. I've had this picture for a while, but don't remember the source. I have no idea if the marbles are original. The only other one that I've seen had Peltier Rainbos (also all on one side).
  5. They are Peltier marbles allright. Berry Pink was a marble jobber in the 1940's, and had an association with Sellers Peltier. He made these boxes and sold Peltier marbles in them. In 1949, he and Peltier bought Alley Agate and changed the name to Marble King. Right after that, Pink also removed the name "Champion" from the boxes and put "Marble King".
  6. Ok, I'll bite. What's a Red Jenny?
  7. I don't know all that much. They made a bunch of marbles in 2001 to commemorate the 9/11 attack. It was the first production in some time (possibly ever?). They went out of business in Feb. 2002. I have some pictures that I saved from Ebay listings. I trust there is no problem showing them.

    Marble Id

This is purely my opinion, and I don't know how other buyers would feel, but when you sell such a lot I wouldn't put them in a jar. I don't collect jars, and the weight adds a lot to shipping cost without any benefit.

Hey scottpatrick......My apologies for intruding into the world of the pro's; those who REALLY own the marble collecting hobby. I'll go back to playing with my marbles.

Firstly, let me say that the possibility of these "exotics" being fake is, to me, totally irrelevant. I don't collect Christensens, or any other high-end marbles for that matter, so I have nothing at risk in a monetary sense. The only reason for my posts is my attempt to overcome, in a very minor way, more dishonesty. As the prices of marbles have risen, it has attracted the inevitable con artist. How many Ebay listings are now nothing more than an attempt at misrepresentation? New marbles as vintage, damaged as mint, common as rare, contemp's as vintage, seeding a larger lot, making up dumb stories about provenance, and plenty of disclaimers, are just some of the ploys to get something for nothing. Unfortunately, this is common in all areas of society. I may be in the minority on this, but it's taken some of the joy out of collecting. Instead of marveling at the beauty of an "Exotic", all I see is the scramble for maintaining and increasing price. For me, that is a major disappointment.

That's easy. I don't have to reveal the name of my source. I doubt very much anyone would even try to verify my story by contacting him. But I would give an account of how I came by the marbles. If that's all I can do then it would stop there. My account of getting them from someone cleaning out old houses is entirely plausible, and woudn't result in controversy. In this scenario, there would also be no question about ALL the marbles that I have, only the odd one. I doubt whether all the Grandmas had the same marbles.

Chris, I respectfully disagree. I believe you ARE entitled to this information. You, and many others like you, ARE the marble hobby and you are not separate from the Exotic owners. What is good for you is also good for the others, and vice versa. A member of ANY hobby, would like to avoid the problem of walking a constant minefield of fakes mixed in with authentics.

I still don't understand the secrecy here. If I had an oil painting that was potentially very valuable but it's authenticity couldn't be established by the "Art Community", I think that if I could provide proof and provenance I would do so. It could only benefit the owner. With these marbles, I believe the same thing would happen. Revealing the truth couldn't have a downside. It seems to me that silence only benefits the owners if the origin of these marbles is questionable.

Let's say someone did have the machines, the glass and the knowledge to use them. How important is each of those in the production of one of a marble? Could a rookie make these?

If these CA Exotics are real, can anyone speculate as to why CAC did not market them? Would these not have been an attractive marble to sell, even back then? For Ponko, The only pictures I have:
  16. I didn't know either Paul or Les, but I can't tell you how much I was hoping for the doctors to pull off a miracle. A very sad time.

    Cool Vitro Bag

Hi Paula, I recently bought a Vitro Conquerors bag, but it was a mesh bag, not cellophane. I opened it (the header was loose anyway) and all the marbles were Victories.
