  1. Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a wonderful, warm summer. It is that time again, our fall meeting time is closing. This meeting will be dedicated to our beloved friend late Leo Contreras. We lost Leo after our spring meeting and he will be greatly missed. He was a great person and a good friend. We will remember him and take a moment for him this meeting. On a good feel note our good friend Jeff Wichmann is hosting our meeting in October. Date is October 15 at 10am. The venue will be American Bottle Auctions headquarters in Sacramento. The adress is: 915 28th street, Sacramento ca 95816. Please let me know if you have any questions, Sami Arim
  2. I'm all reserved from Thursday on.
  3. Nice set Bo! Now I know why you were selling your Pelts.
  4. Me and my daughter will be out the door in an hour. See you guys soon.
  5. I am looking at the reflections on the red glass
  6. I am seeing some facets on the red glass. Could it be very early glass with mica hand cut to sphere earlier than handmade marbles? Please let us know when you get them.
  7. I am leaning the same way at this point Galen. It was too good to be true to find a very rare Marble King out in the wild like that anyway.
  8. I agree that all those ribbons are unusual for Marble King but it is also very different than any Imperial I have seen. Could it be an experimental MK I wonder?
  9. I totally agree with your point Winnie. When I first got the marble I was sure that it is Marble King because of the cutlines etc. Now that I am looking closely the ribbon colors could be Imperial. I think the verdict is still out there.
  10. Maybe not. I am told similar Matble Kings were found dug.
  11. I don't know if this is as surprising to you as it was to me but I found this Marble King out in the wild and couldn't believe my eyes when I noticed that Marble King produced the exact same marble as the classic Peltier "Citrus" with the same color combo and translucent base filled with whispy white filaments. Am I seeing this correctly or is there something I missed. Marble King specialists are welcome to comment.
  12. I am so sorry to hear about this. Leo was a great guy and a good friend. He was a regular to all west shows and a definite to our Northern California meetings. My condolences to his family and friends. Sami
  13. Lisa, i don't agree with bidders trying to expose your reserve with high bids. They could simply ask you and if you are not willing to share they should have leave the auction alone after bidding their highest bid. As for the Guinea auction, someone appearantly thought it was a fake marble and tried to kill the auction. Your best bet against these type of people is to get better pictures and descriptions. That will be your best defense.
  14. I don't see the relation between the first Guinea auction and the brick auction except there are some bidders out there trying to expose misidentified or simply fraudulent auctions with unorthodox bidding practices.
  15. Prior bidding looked very fishy and I wasn't surprised to see the marble relisted. Pictures are not conclusive either way but definitely a very risky auction for a high price marble.
  16. Great piece with a great story and background.
  17. Hello all, Our bi-annual Spring marble meet is set on April 16th Saturday. The venue is confirmed 'Masses' sports bar and grill again this time. The address is 2721 N. Main st, walnut creek, 94597. Our room is reserved starting 10am. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Please forward this message to anyone that is not in this email and would be interested to join.Hope to see you there.Sami Arim ps: Steph, I would appreciate if you could tag this message temporarily to the top. thank you
  18. I'm definitely coming to Seattle this year. See you guys in july.
  19. Great news! I love old Vegas downtown.
  20. Winnie, one more item I can add is size. Clear Rainbos I have seen typically are always 5/8", while Fruit Cocktails range from 5/8" all the way up to 3/4".
  21. Yes Ann. Ribbons on Clear Rainbos are not as strong or opaque as earlier Fruit Cocktails and thin out to different shades. They are also more on the surface while Fruit Cocktail ribbons go deep into the marble. I have to take back 6 ribbon statement Ric brought up though. Fruit Cocktails have only 4 ribbons just like a bumble bee or tiger would have, but all ribbons have different colors. 3 color Cocktails have one same color in two ribbons.
