Bob, Thank you for your help and sure enough after studying the marble some more they are fairly sure it is TVG. ----Leroy----

Does anyone know who TVS stands for? My friend has a contemporary marble over 2" with those letters on the bottom. Thanks for your help. ----Leroy----

I'm with Galan on this as 70 years ago (Iwas 7 years old and played marbles most everyday) a shooter was a 3/4" or smaller marble period. Anything larger was called a boulder (used mostly to lag with) period. Now you must know that this was in the state of Florida. What they were called elsewhere could have been anything and most likely were and I,m here to tell you that they were just as right as we were. That's the beauty about marbles in my way of thinking, you can put any name you want to on a giving mib. ----Leroy----

The way the yellow/orange pulls over into the blue is a sure sign that it could very well be a Master Made Marble. If it were mine and I do have some very much like it, it would be in my Master collecton----Leroy----

Worst Enemy Was Myself--Out Of Marbles
leroy65 replied to leroy65's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thank you Rich. I guess I should explain that I'm just out of marbles to do for other people. Some of my machines are running on my own marbles and on some "share" marbles that I have here. I only work on them when I don't have other peoples marbles to do. We are snowed in right now. ----Leroy---- -
I think I have done a good job helping other people get started in reconditioning marbles as I am now out of marbles to recondition for the first time in many years. LOL I don't mind though because I know that hurt marbles are being healed and aren't headed to the landfill. If you have any marbles that you would like for me to recondition, now would be a good time to do so.You could email me at [email protected], or give me a call at 402-366-9246. I would also like to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISMAS and a Happy and Prosporous NEW YEAR. ----Leroy----

I believe you are most likely both right. I have a set of 385 in a display tray that has 35 compartments with 11 marbles in each. Each compartment has different marbles. This set was sent to me by Ron Sheppard and dated "03". I than have a box of "05" that has about the same marbles with a few diffenent one. Its hard to put dates on some Jabo's. ----Leroy----

It has been brought to my attention that the word is out there that I am ill. Nothing could be further from the truth! As far as I'm concerned I am fit and going strong. Reconditioning lots of marbles. Checking the mail every day for more. LOL Have a nice day----Leroy----

O/t- Need Thoughts And Prayers Please
leroy65 replied to bigjohn691500's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
The power of prayer is awsome and never ending. You and your family are in my prayers. May the grace of God be with you and yours always. ----Leroy---- -
Howdy, I have run out of peoples marbles needing reconditioning. If you have any and you are thinking about having them made like new again, now is a very good time to send them. Any questions, just email me at [email protected] or call me at 402-366-9246. Leroy

Don, That's the ones and thank you for the great pictures. Not that I'd sell any of them, but what do you think the value per marble should be? I have lost tract (computer crash in 08) of when and where I bought mine and I have no idea what I paid for them. Again I thank you for your trouble and the great pictures.----Leroy----

A few years ago I purchased several marbles that claimed to be German Sparklers. All of them are over 1" and some of them have fractures. They are beautiful and I haven't seen any like them around. I still don't know how to post pictures, but if anybody that can post pictures doesn't have any, I'll be happy to mail them a few (postage return of course) so they can post them for me. I would even let them pick out one or two and keep it (them) for their collection for their trouble. Later----Leroy---

It has come to my attension that there may possible be some old German handmade marbles that contain aventurine. My question is: have you ever seen this and if so in what old German handmade marbles. I have a friend that says he has one. I haven't seen it as yet, but will soon. He also has an old german handmade that has a Lutz core. The core is fairly small in diameter and goes from pole to pole in the center of the marble and I have seen this one. It is the only one of it's kind that I have seen in the 30 plus years that I have been collecting.----Leroy----

The only marbles that I have seen that come close to what those look like are marbles dredged up from the ocean bottom , river bottom or lake bottom. These sure are a mystery and very interesting. This is my opinion and nine alone. ----Leroy----

On another board a discussion was started about damaged marbles. I tried posting there several times, but could'nt as I seemed to be barred if I wrote this much. I for one hate to see damaged marbles just thrown away without making sure that they can't be reconditioned and believe me I'm not saying this because I recondition marbles. It's just that several years ago a friend had a 5 gallon bucket about half full of hurt marbles and he told me they were headed to the landfill. I asked him to allow me to take them home with me and recondition those on halves that were rare and valuable. Long story short over 200 marbles were saved and some of them are still on display at The Lee's Marble Muesum in York, Nebraska. Others were sold and between us we sold over a thousand dollars worth and I still have some in my collection. What I'm saying is that before you throw a hurt marble away have some good polisher (reconditioner) evaluate them. It's amazing what can be reconditined. Some peole don't like polished (reconditioned) marbles and that is their choice and they aren't for everybody. This is my opinion and mine alone. ----Leroy----

Here's where the rub comes. Should marbles that are made from melted down glass from all sources ever be called "cullet" marbles or maybe it would be more proper to call them "remelts"? Cullet that is slabbed and ground into round marbles, to me are "cullet" marbles (no heat involved). However, I have no problem with whatever they are called, Just so I understand how the marble name was arrived at. ----Leroy----
-
Just what are cullet marbles? By slabbing and rounding dug cullet from the various marble company's dumps and elsewhere I have made beautiful marbles. When I refer to a cullet marble, this is what I am referring to. Now after a debate with other people, this I find isn't exactly right. What is right? ----Leroy----

Thank you for all the information and now I enter the DA catagory for sure as I'm completely confused. If anyone asked me what a "furnace marble" or a "tank wash" is, I will simply tell them they are round and very pretty. ----Leroy----
-
After havng a discussion yesterday about "Furnace Marbles" I wonder just what a "Furnace Marble" is? What is the difference between a "Furnace Marble" and a "Tank Wash" marble? Anyone? ----Leroy----

Al, I received marbles an lots of times I visited with Paul, but for some strange reason all I have is his phone number and email address. I know he lives in PA, but thats about it. It was all in my old computer and got lost in the transfer. Thanks for trying----Leroy----
-
When I dial his phone number all I get is a busy signal. When I send him an email it gets returned. I'm hoping that someone has some information about Paul of PA. Thank you----Leroy----
