  1. Do any of these Heaton marbles have names? The blue & tan one was labeled a Rotten Robin, but the video by Stephen B. showed a diff. version of a Rotten Robin, and is the green one a Cucumber, & would you call the blended brown/tan a ribbon or a snake? It's all one piece. And are there 2 Blackberrys, though one is purple & wh,, while the other is purple with bands having light lavender, light purple & what almost looks like a purplish tan together. The rusty brown/red one I just call "mine"
  2. When I look at my plastic divided boxes at all the marble I've gotten, I see I'm heavy on the fall colors, red-to-orange, some greens, throw in some contras & I see my favorite season, what we have here right now in Tenn.
  3. When I was in the 6th grade to 8th grade, myself & 2 others would pack a lunch , tell our moms we were going to ea. others house & meet just at the edge of Zanesville's abandoned strip mine, went on a logging road through the woods, ate our peanut butter sandwiches halfway down the cliff in a weathered-out cliff cave, took our empty paper bags, climbed down the rest of the cliff, crossed the road & went tile digging in the Zanesville tile dump site by the Muskingum River. I was thrilled when I found an in. sq., scarlett-to-orange tile along with a Gold one & a silver one, all the same spot. We always found some treasure; a broken fireplace surround strip in mottled brn-grn., a chipped tile with a perfect raised deco flower, etc. & always went home with a full bag of tile pieces- & no one ever chased us off. I share your emotion over that first sight of "a keeper" Then we discovered boy & horses , got active in 4-H, but I have never lost the love of a good treasure hunt.....PS, we went 'dumping 3 or 4 times a summer, & our parents never knew, as long as we were back by supper....those were the good ol' days
  4. My love of WV area marbles left me wanting to see if I could find examples of the diff. companies that worked in that area. I saw the Heaton topic, showing the naming of Heaton marbles from a dig & started looking for some of them on ebay. I found one site that was putting several Heaton marbles up for auction, bid & got what I thought might be a broad sampling. Just yesterday I saw the video of the Heaton site dig, & was washed over wit envy, wishing I could have been there. As it worked out, my first batch of Heaton marbles came that afternoon, my little ebay dig. Did I do OK? I tried for a Blackberry, a Robins Egg, a Cucumber, a Volcano, A Voodo, & was outbid on the Blue Denim, The rest sort of came along because liked them & I had a couple like them, & if they were certified as Heaton, then I didn't have to bother you all to ID my swirls, probably a boring task for you, but we new folks "just want to know". Just a note: the 8:00 marble in the 5 group has a more aqua transparent base then I could capture. The marble that doesn't move for several frames doesn't move, because it's back is only white: those marbles that look black, really are a purple, or dark red, & the one I wanted to be Voodo was a wonderful bubble filled transparent citrus color on my cell phone flashlight, a real supšŸ˜®rise ( as you see, Steph, you unleashed my inner emoji) lol, Bonnie
  5. Thanks Ron & all- into the Champion box they go- still like them & they tried hard to flame!
  6. That's I rely on, & value, the input I get from all of you, since I didn't know much about marbles a yr, ago, other the were pretty & round !!!
  7. I especially like the tubes idea, where did you get the tubes? I also love clear marbles, but just have the in a sectioned plastic box for holding beads, but would like to put tubes of them in a window, as their colors are lovely....
  8. I didn't know that about flames, but I thought they were on the weak side. Because they weren't flame rich, I thought the possibility they weren't Alleys, that's why I clumped them together to check with you folks. They came along with my swirls, but just didn't look like swirls either, so do I call them swirl wan-a-bs..& by whom?
  9. I think these can all be called flames & are Alleys, but there's always the chance a Champion can sneak in; I'm not secure in id'ing them.
  10. If you get your swamp land sold, I have some for sale too if your buyers want more!,,,, all I can say is I buy what I like & feel are reasonable in price first of all, then run the ones I have questions about by y' all. If I couldn't double check here, my unknowns bottle would be a lot fuller....
  11. You know what, I like cl. Christmas tree- that suits it- I never could see it a dragon, said as much to the seller, but loved it enough to make an offer & get it. I have no handle on 9:00, though I'm a softie for mint green bases. I love Alley butterscotch & red combos, but someday one just might be a dragon in disguise, like all of you, I have my dream marble.....6:00 has a slight minty base color too, & sort of a m0ssy, opal look to it, so I really like it to.....thanks-Bonnie
  12. These marbles I purchased from various sellers because I liked them, but am not sure their descriptions were either right, or hoped they were, so let's see what your thoughts are....Noon was described as a Peltier cl. base dragon, which seemed to have a lot going on, but I loved it- I've included as best I could, the window into the clear & bubble filled part. 3:00- Marble King?? 6:00 was described as a NRL Peltier citrus & oxblood Rainbo, quite a mouthful; I've included a back lite view to show the seams better & show it's translucent, bubble base. 9:00 has a mint green base & was labeled an Ally Agate swirl. The center was an Alley swirl- go ahead and laugh, when I cross my eyes I see a golden dragon....
  13. It's too bad we can't have such finite documentation of all our marbles. Knowledge gained through all the people at The Marble Connection is awesome & I totally appreciate it
  14. I didn't think the pelt had a diaper fold, but, since I've never identified one in my marbles, I really don't know what they look like. The marble only had what I called one seam & no other. This my be stretching my luck too far, but can it possibly be a flaming dragon (I'm always looking for a dragon, they will probably haunt me my entire marble years)? You all agree on the one that's my favorite here. Ron are you going to weigh in here; I'd like to know where you place the center one especially....
  15. Does Peltier do a diaper fold? I looked for seams in the red-on-green swirl & the only thing I could find is a break between the upper red-yellow swirl & the swirl as it comes up from the bottom, it shows sort of mid point in the first pic. & looks like it could be a diaper seam- but even under my magnifying light I couldn't find any other seams. Could the bottom one be a Heaton? I've sort of been trying to get Heaton sorted in my mind
  16. i really liked these, sort of a grouping of the colors I gravitate to, all in one purchase, & even though I had little idea of who made them, it was a "had to have " buy. Any ideas as to made any or all of them? I don't know why the last frame won't come up, I'll try to send one by itself, as it shows a view that is kind of diff.
  17. the names are so appropriate & make the marbles easy to identify- great information....
  18. I got a belly laugh at the ...."bratzzzz" tongue- out one- It seems birds head the list for found-objects marbles
  19. Thank you, thank you, I'm so happy I was right. I've got several Hot Wheels, thought their colors cool, but when I saw yours, with the transparent base, it was so much richer than a hot wheel that I started looking for one- got very lucky
  20. I'm in a gray area here, especially the one that has the lg. open amber transparent window,
  21. I saw this on ebay & remembered the red cloud discussion in the furnace topic & thought this looked like the first pic. posted there- am I right? It's not a hot wheels that has an opaque base, this is transparent- love it no matter what....
  22. Am I the only one who sees pictures in marbles? I thought I'd see some really way-out things that y'all had imagined as you sorted all those marbles. Or does this show how desperate I am for any scrap of entertainment during this pandemic???
  23. I can't stop looking at these pics.- good thing you can't see me, my drooling is making a puddle on the floor....
