  1. Do you have photos of any of those? The only one I've even heard of is the Calligraphy, and I'm not sure what it looks like. Thanks Bruce
  2. I like the big ol' red slag at the top of the pic. Is the one left of it a lattice core hand made? kind of looks like it. No colored swirls on the outside? If so they are not the most attractive marbles but not real common either. Thanks Bruce
  3. I had no idea that Alleys could command such prices. Time to go thru my jars again. Thanks Bruce
  4. I have a couple like the 2 outside ones. Because of the color I had them as Pelts, but never really convinced myself. Bruce
  5. I got some today. Mostly I know what they are. And mostly they are in good shape. But I have a couple I don't recognize, they re pretty rough. Any ideas? Thanks Bruce
  6. Got a handful of marbles today in a shop. Several are in pretty nice shape. 7 will go into my display case (did I mention that I'm a sucker for corkscrews). 7 is unheard of, usually I don't find one in a bucketful. Thanks Bruce
  7. kinda looks like a flintie to me. May be a fish eye in pic 2. Shine a bright light thru it and see if it's opalescent. Bruce
  8. You think a gagillion years will do it? I was hoping that a mere Gazillion would do it. Bruce
  9. I was wondering last night if there weren't some sort of transitional rainbos. I have always heard "tweener" applied to middle schoolers, but it works for mibs too. Thanks Bruce
  10. So base glass is the determining factor. I have been hammering away at these in books and on the 'net for quite a while and everything I read talked about ribbons and not base glass. For example the green one in the second group has clear ribbons (you can see all the way to the middle through them) and I thought to put it as an NLR, despite that it looks rainbo all the way, because somewhere I read that clear ribbons were only NLR. But base glass is a much simpler way to determine where they go. Thanks Bruce
  11. I have a bunch of NLRs and Rainbos that I mostly know where to put, But there are some that I don't know which pile to put in. Most of these are pretty ho-hum but if I can get them assigned they may help with other IDs down the road. I may be way off base, in which case I'll start over from scratch. So if you have some thoughts about what they are and why you think so it will be a great help. Thanks Bruce
  12. Does anyone know about/have any interest in, these? They were in my last marble pile, I thought I would check before I used them for slingshot ammo. Thanks Bruce
  13. Nice score, but I'm a sucker for corks. Bruce

What about it says Akro? Not doubting It but I don't know what gives it away. Thanks Bruce

    odd one

I found this marble in my pile. It's strange but interesting. It's 5/8ths with a streaky dirty grey base glass and dark blue swirled through it, both colors are translucent. As you can see it's a little beat up. I was checking to see if the grey is opalescent, It's not but the blue is. With a bright light shone through it the blue has a purplish red light coming thru. I can't get a pic of that. Under blacklight though, the grey glows yellow. Any ideas? Thanks Bruce
  16. Is that a Miller era swirl or a NLR? Thanks Bruce
  17. The thing about lotsa marbles: You always have sumthin' to pick through. When there is a rainy day or any other reason, dump a jar and look at 'em all again. You will find that besides the entertainment, you will find something you didn't know you had, either because you now know more about marbles, or it was simply overlooked before. Thanks Bruce
  18. I already have that marble. It's a 1 & 29/32nds lion that was given to my grampa when he was a kid. He got this in the early 1900s. Thanks Bruce

    Akro?

I thought Akro would have at least one seam that was dead straight. Thanks Bruce
  20. When I first saw the OP marble I thought "hey I have one that looks like that". After reading wvrons last post I thought I would post pics of it. I always assumed it was a CAC wannabe. Thanks Bruce

    Kokomo?

    How can you tell? Thanks
  22. Surprising that someone would go to that trouble to make a 5/8ths marble. It also looks a little played with, also kind of surprising for contemporary "art". Thanks Bruce
  23. Not an egg cup though, my guess is toothpick holder. Bruce
  24. I wonder how much for just the steelie? Or is "cub scout metal" the proper name? Bruce
  25. The duck is nice but I really like the indian in the foreground. Bruce
