Chad G. replied to rockgardenplants's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Green Fizzes are known for their UV reactive bases, Hmm ?? Not seeing av, I see bubbles?? Never seen one w/ av but I guess anything's possible ?? Decimals are frowned upon by many, I don't mind one way or the other, here's a conversion table I use. After a while you get to learning them and won't need to consult it as often, oh and yeah those Wiger's are gettin VHTF so it may be a while before ya fill that place w/ a better one,. especially w/ the HVY av yours appears to have IMO Here's the conversion table link for ya, I have it posted to ,my favs for quick reference. All Nova's were 7/8ths or bigger, wish I could help ya out on yours but I'm no sure what it is ??
-
Here's my Nova Adam, not positive what you OP ids but not Pelt. the cuts can appear any which away, sometimes you can't even see one. Depends on how they come off the rollers, creases, folds, etc.
-
Looks like a mixture of red and orange base (half & half) in which case you have a Wiger (half Tiger half Wasp) I just looked again & am almost positive that you have a Wiger. Most commonly found w/o av but do come w/ it, a very nice example, "killer" mib

Bust out the shovel & "kid gloves" a big cut will put the cabosh on any further diggin plans, be careful Brother !! This and the other toys in your pix like the tiny char etc. are a good sign
-
Wow !! good luck Brother !!

Man, go to the county courthouse an see if you can get an old map of the property (should be publicly available) and see if you can find the outhouse location, an old bottle digger I used to hang out w/ that's basically all he dug, we used steel rods he pushed into the ground till he hit something then we dug. Anything and everything they had in their pockets fell into that outhouse hole including marbles, money, old whiskey bottles etc.. a gold mine if nobody has dug it yet ??
-
I know it sounds gross but was there an outhouse anywhere to be found ??
-
The opaque white base on the cupper left mostly appear to be Peltier Rainbos and the rest on the lower (R) side are all cat eyes, (Japanese manufacture IMO)
-
Not seeing Pelt, IMO

I think it'll be considerably more than $300, I've seen 9.7 or better examples between 7/8ths and an inch go for tens of thousands, of course that's w/ no damage but still even w/ ?? Here's a pic of a7/8ths example from a 2012 auction LINK :: https://www.peachridgeglass.com/2012/12/rare-pink-opaque-lutz-marble-sells-for-25800/

Looks like just over 25/32nds Brad, I got this from his other post, I haven't seen one of these in years, and never in hand.

Pelt Blue Lagoons all have Aventurine, usually very fine silver, most generally around the blue ribbons.

Wow !! Don't drop it, an antique German handmade Banded lutz. Not just any lutz but the rarest color there is "pink" not sure of the exact value but definitely way over a grand even w/ damage. VVVHTF (very, very, very hard to find) a once in a lifetime find (if your lucky) Man what a killer find. -
Good call Adam, all slags IMO This one is Still a slag but it looks like a pinch pontil transitional ?

"Welcome to marble Connection Donnie" Agree w/ Tommy, seeing mostly Peltier along w/ a couple possible W. Va. swirls.
