  1. Is that some kinda old mole trap ?? Might be easy to date this one, they haven't put ammonia inhalants (smelling salts I believe) in first aid kits in a while, nice bunch of finds William, thanks for sharing, the next best thing to being there
  2. Not Pelt, others will chime in soon and I.D. this one for ya
  3. Two sundrenched Carnelians for this hot October "Akro Friday"
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN How does it feel to be a 117 year old youngster ... And many thanks to you my devoted Friend .... LINK :: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv_HsQHNBb8 "Thanks for the Birthday link Dave"
  5. Well, I guess the fizz was named for all the bubbles ?? Just looking for a prerequisite to separate it from other similar mibs. Yes I guess only the person who named it first can lay down any particular I.D. stipulations. Marbles and their identification are ever evolving, a reason I've come to love & enjoy the hobby so much, I'll never get bored. @ least we can all agree on that one thing
  6. Which way do I go George ?? Many opinions on this mib's I.D., av, no av, uv, not uv. I went w/ the majority not any specific collector, realizing marble collecting is all perspective & w/ respect to everyone's opinion, I'm @ a bit of a loss as far as a positive I.D. for James ( orange_orbital) ??
  7. He also has a phone # listed on the MCSA site, I've called him a few times
  8. I think this is an overheated Jabo as well ?? Not sure ?? I got it from an investor w/ several like it, an 09 run if I remember right ??
  9. Yes, this is the base to a chicken waterer, when I was young I watered and fed several animals on my grandfathers farm and there were several of these. This is just the bullet "right" ?? No casing or (shell, primer) no bang. But if the residents did any blasting there will more than likely be blasting caps, about the same size as a 30-30 shell casing and yes very explosive. One of my friends found one and was cleaning it w/ his pocket knife to see what it was and, well lets just say he no longer had 10 fingers. He was younger when he did it but told me the story and showed me an old cap just like it. The newer ones all need an electric charge (battery) to set them off.
  10. A repost of one of my favorite coats. 27/32nds if I remember right (close) showing the gaps demonstrating the lack of an underlying "skin" like an onion has, Backlit & a few pix of the pontils to demonstrate the "skip" grinding I was talking about. One end ground one end unfinished. These are all pix of the same mib. Here's the unfinished end :: And here's what I call "skip ground" they were in such a hurry that the actual pontil was completely missed leaving a grind mark off to one side. They musta been Bustin their humps. Here's another example. One pontil a melted pigtail the other end "skip ground" you can see where the grinding trailed off the pontil onto the clean surface of the marble on the left. I suppose it wasn't easy keeping it centered perfectly as a great deal of my late era coats exhibit this production trait, either this or both ends are rough and unfinished.
  11. Don't know about burnt but fer shur looks like another "spit shine" job ... ... hadda throw that one in for ya 🔥 I spotted the dribblins .....
  12. Killer set David, Coats are my favorite handmade as you know, love em man, Thanks for postin the pic Agree w/ ya on the later part of the Victorian era of production for yours. Most of the earlier types were larger and had one faceted pontil and the other usually a melted pigtail. They got a lot smaller when the "English gameboard" started & the demand went way up, increased production meant no time to facet anymore, half the smaller coats I have are skip ground on one end, either that or both ends were left unfinished. I forgot to add they were made for the English Gameboard mkt. by the Germans.
  13. I wish it was av, still a nice mib
  14. Yes, always good to ask, collect what you like, you're the only you, you have to make happy No matter the value.
  15. Yeah, another nice one, kinda hard to come by Pee-Wee Rainbos, a keeper IMO
  16. Yes, a Peltier Rainbo, the combinations on them are endless, some very rare. The one you have is more on the common side but still !! If you keep collecting Pelts you will run into more closely resembling it and every variation thereof.
  17. Ivory keys ?? Or wooden ?? Who you kiddin, you're gonna be diggin in the snow ... ... Only laughin because if I lived close enough and you had an extra shovel we could convince each other to go on the worst day, moist soil makes for easier diggins !!
  18. I see some creasing in the black ribbons in these 2 pix but no av sparkle ?? Hopefully Fire will come back and let us know for sure ?? Still even if av is present I wouldn't consider it a poison bee IMO close in one view but ??
  19. I believe to qualify as a poison bee it has to have av ?
