Ah ha !! Ya finally got em cornered, I came over here right after I seen the "Bird Emergency" Post on "Slags & Swirls Saturday" Hear, hear, impeccable work Watson !! I can see you shuffling across the yard now from the marble setup to get a good shot
-
Did ya get a pic of that hide & seek albino ??
-
Was buying marbles way before the "Interweb" myself, just the fact I'd never heard such funny terminology used for it, I still use a landline for a phone, yes a cordless but still a landline, I don't even know how to turn a cell phone on and off ?? I'll graduate soon from Gramps to Great Gramps, in the blink of an eye they'll be all grown up. Way to fast for & all to soon for me, maybe smarter than me but in my eye's they'll always be kids, & I mean that in the kindest way They need an old man emoji w/ a beard There we go, that's better !!

"Interweb" you're killin me Art .... But I guess facts is facts, I wouldn't even hazard a "guess" in this case
-
Well, I was impatient and didn't use the remote, tripod or a daylight bulb, another bunch in the works for tonight, better than this I promise. A bunch of "stripey cats" and some other unnamed mibs later.
-
Just had to post a few of the beauties' I was gifted from a great marble Brother overseas Made from an opalescent base glass w/ lots of (intentional) snow (brick?) not really sure ? these are some of my favorites. The one w/ av in the OP also has snow and is opalescent based. I'll post more later because the pix I just took are blurry (I shake like a leaf) lots going on inside the mib and I want to capture it for you, gotta break out the tripod and remote. These are all foreign to the US so if you're wondering what they are that's why.

Nice mib Art

Thanks Fire, guess I gotta slow down !! Didn't mean to overlook the size, man that's a big one alright, transparent clear is what I thought, thanks
-
Agree, Coat, where's the fish n chips ??
-
Nice Coat Fire A lot of rods of color on this one, can you get an approximate size ?? Is the base glass amber or is it the lighting or me ??
-
Mine had a finer green line very similar to the ones in the box and closely resembling Dave's marble though I'm not positive about the I.D. of Dave's ?? The green line on every example I've seen & had is always @ or near one side of the patch, as in all marbles there are exceptions. I've seen them between 23/32nds & 3/4ths but not @ 15/16ths
-
Agree William, you have a Honey Onyx IMO, nice
-
Thanks for the advice Roby, I appreciate it my Friend. Yeah, gonna start out on some smaller cheaper examples as to dip my foot in the water before I do any big experimentation.

I had (1) 0ne, maybe two, long ago, looked exactly as the ones in the box in the OP, same shade, green stripe location, patch, everything. After a few years I gave up on getting a boxes worth. Here are a couple links that will be helpful (I hope) I know honey onyx are usually larger than 5/8ths, mostly around 23/32nds are a translucent (semi opaque) based patch. Yes, a VHTF mib IMO. Darn, I was sure I had @ least one pic saved, I just looked in one of my old Pelt folders, I had multiple pix @ one time, ah along w/ other things & moving several times lost in the shuffle !! I'll look again a bit later, I may have pix of it straggling in some other place ?? Hello Art, Shoe grease has been around for over 100 years, we used it to waterproof and protect our leather boots when I worked out in the woods chasing (setting log chokers). " Huberd's" was the go too then. I am of course from the Pacific Northwest
-
Well it is a corkscrew, so Akro IMO
-
Thanks Roby, I'll start shopping around for a few starters, getting to be a lot of more hot and dry air here and I've noticed many people growing Palm trees and banana trees, something you never would have seen when I was a kid, they would've never survived the long winter, always damp weather, now a big change has happened so guess I'll take advantage of it and try something new !!

What are a few types easiest to grow say indoors or in a window sill, able to withstand a freeze or two ??

I'm lookin ..... Now I'm thinkin .... Could ya post a couple more views Mibber ?? It does look "kinda" like an Akro cork in this shot "but" The cutoff or "termination" point looks weird, it probably is a cork but I've already ate gallons of "shoe grease" this month, now my shoe is stuck ... .... .... I could really use smore of that deeeliciouse butter ..... .... Mmm .... hey wait a minute, I think somebody slipped me a mickey ?? I'm feelin kinda drowsy ...
