  1. Patty had her sister stop by for a visit this afternoon, along with her nephew Toby (who I gifted a jar of mibs too a week ago) and her niece Emily. They hung out for a few hours playing bags and visiting, and when I got home from work, they had just picked a bunch of veggies too take home with them. Emily picked a couple of giant tomatoes, the bigger one weighing 1.6 pounds (pic taken with a penny too show actual size) 😳...
  2. Anytime, Ric! I'm glad you, Chad and others have a good time checking stuff out. Looking forward to next Sunday already, switched church services to Saturday....hopefully everything is hitting our bait alot next week. Did hear the slow day was more than likely due too a spawning period, not sure which species but it sure affected everything we usually catch. Back to work for me 😊
  3. Glad you liked them! But boy, I'll tell you, I'm whooped today! See if I can make it through Monday workday!
  4. It wasn't as busy with the bites this weekend vs. last weekend but we got a few...
  5. Inside the Best Dam Float Restaurant and Lounge....a collection of lures, some were used there and are attached too memories of the many great catches over the years. The enclosed silver box is a 100 years of fishing history. The white board shows the current leaders pertaining to species of fish, length and weight (The 71 pound Sturgeon was just caught this past week!); plus pictures of anglers and their great catches there...The mounted fish were ALL caught there and donated for show. An interesting story with the Largemouth Bass and bluegill, a young boy caught the bluegill and right before he pulled it out of the water, the Bass hit it! The boy got 2 for 1! They removed the bluegill from its stomach too mount with it. Actually I think amongst the pictures you will see the boy holding the Bass with Captain Tom kneeling next to him.
  6. Another fun Sunday on the Mississippi River
  7. Shifty, crafty, that's about right. Just woke up to get ready for fishing and there are a few scattered on the floor around the entryway too the kitchen. I began to navigate them mentally as I approached while crossing a throw rug. Nailed an unseen 5/8 hiding in the rug. Oww.

    Hmmmm . . .

Love the bands of color...I want too say, best guess, Marble King. But....
  9. Salsa is done! A semi-mild batch of delicious! Got a total of total of 11 jars out of the first batch, 2 are getting delivered to the River tomorrow 😊
  10. Jars are full and taking their bath!
  11. Thoughts and prayers too his wife, family and friends...sometimes I wish I would have began collecting years ago just so I could have possibly met some of these folks. I always enjoy reading the posts that reference everyone who I would consider ground breakers and ambassadors too this hobby, including the people who I collaborate with here at MarbleConnection. Be at peace 🙏
  12. Ready too peel the boiled tomatoes, mix with the diced up peppers (jalapeno, sweet banana, sweet apple), fresh onion I just picked up from an Amish homestead, and garlic. Have too mince up the fresh oregano and cilantro now too add too the mix. First batch enough for maybe 8 quart jars.
  13. Another great "feel good" story, Ric....keep them coming, folks. Great stuff 👍
  14. Love the info and the pictures! I'm going vintage in my quest too nail a nice Bass or Northern tommorow morning...
  15. Well, up at 5AM, today is canning day! Boil all jars, boil the tomatoes for skinning, chop up all the peppers available with the garlic, onion and other goodies and put together some Salsa! Full morning. After that, going to start prepping everything for the Mississippi river Sunday morning! Decided I was going to try out one of the vintage "River Runt" lures before hitting the bottom out deep. Heddon power! Looking forward to seeing Captain Tom and his weathered face pull up in the skiff

    SQUATCH $$

Nice! First thing that popped into my head were the Sasquatch commercials with the beef sticks. "Don't mess with Sasquatch"...then after that I thought THAT reminded me of me when I don't get my way treasure hunting. You know, when I turn Green...
  17. Agree with Chad....it's all about what you like though. Jabo does have attractive mibs, and some cats eyes can be cool. With that said, I wouldn't give any more than a few bucks for those, if I liked them. There's always that chance of hitting that "diamond in the rough", couldn't say for sure if one's in there. Just don't overpay too chase it.
  18. That's cool...I used to do the same thing with football cards years ago, put together a bunch of grab bags for kids. Every year during our Steam Engine Days festival here, I would take them down to the grounds too a friend of mine from up by Minneapolis named Dale Leitz. He's a sports memorabilia collector and seller who I have known since the mid 90's. I would always get in touch with him shortly before that weekend and ask what he needed (certain teams, players, etc.) Besides our on the side wheeling and dealing, I would take a pile of commons down too him also for bagging up. Most were giveaways, some he might toss in a flashy insert or rookie card and put a price of a dime or quarter on it. Some of the kids felt pretty proud to be able to purchase these little bags too! All in all, total fun with great rewards for all.
