Ok, this one is old and beaten up, but I like it and haven’t seen anything like it….definitely early 30’s?? It measures 6” x 4.5” ….what do you think akroorka?
-
Exactly, from Grist’s book. I have that box, mine came with a different pouch….I always thought that box came with Pelts, but who knows
-
Ohhhh! You know I had to post this one, rare stuff here.

Yea, saw that! Missing the bow tie, so not interested……just kidding -
I’ve seen that in old Jobber box from the 30’s that had Pelts in it….but I also saw that same one in another group in one of Blocks books that said it was “ newer”…so who knows…lol

These all came in at 5/8…the large Alley is their just to show difference in base glass. Any ideas on the front three, the base glass has a sort of greenish hue, compared to that whiteness of the Alley. Any idea what type of WV swirl? Thanks!!!
-
Oh, kinda see that as well! Ughh
-
Only reason, far fetched I know is because of that stained glass look and not typical Pelt colors. 5/8

Yea, it has been awhile since I’ve seen that, usually everything is in jars, or behind a glass case. Will be interesting to see if they replenish or will just let it dwindle -
Another Master

Pretty good score yesterday, checked out an antique shop, no luck until I walked up toward cashier and saw 2 boxes of marbles marked $1 each…..ughh hello….so for 45 minutes this is what I found. Going to head back again next week! Lil bit of everything, CAC, Pelt, Alley, Akro, Vitro, Masters! and some solid color mibs that intrigued me… -
No CAC, no oxblood, probably alley
-
Thank you and It most certainly is!

I wonder if that Washington 2 cent stamp could help narrow down the date of that box, between 1911-14…any stamp collectors? Hell I bet those have value as well.
-
Wow, spectacular box, most likely all MFC!

does an indian have to be black? If purple banded opaque? thanks
Akro75 replied to Jeremysvt's topic in Marble I.D.'s
Of course collectors names, I believe they probably called them “opal threaded glass marbles “ ..or something… and “Indians”…clambroths, peppermints and “banded opaques” were under the same umbrella. -

Good question, but I remember for years an Indian was considered opaque “black glass” with the almost painted like glass seemingly on top, some were not opaque but the color palette always was similar. The banded opaque was always white with typical red glass on surface, sometimes green or blue mixed in …granted I have tons examples of each that defy what was always once said, but the color palette for Indians to me is pretty recognizable whether opaque or semi. I would love to see how these were marketed back in the day! -

I remember this debate in Grist’s books, but that is a nice banded opaque and a nice Indian . -
