  14. Here is one for an Id. Yes I did get the Alley book, no I still do not get them. A WVS of one sort or another—kind of cool imho. I do suck at WVS ID It reminds me of a Red Raven so I thought why not post it and ask? No ego to hurt here. (Unless you say that my images suck😁) All opinions are appreciated and needed. Marble—On!!

  17. It is a Pelt--Nice size as well! I would call it a nice big Rainbo--others may disagree. I appreciate all opinions. Marble--On!!
  18. I believe that with the possible exception of CAC--all Machine made Makers used cullet glass. Many of the older companies used their own recipes along with cullet from other glass makers. This is of course open to discussion and I appreciate all opinions. Marble--On!!
  19. The whites from a "recipe" are always brighter than "cullet white"(cullet meaning glass purchased from another glass maker)----much deeeper, cleaner white. A good clue when looking for some of the nicer WVS marbles--CAC as well who made all of their own glass as far as I know anyhow. All opinions are appreciated. Marble--On!!
  20. Tommy, Just imagine a 7 gram weight vs a 2 gram weight falling onto the rollers. The stretch in the glass would be quite different in the glob as it falls. These bigger marbles just do not behave the same as they are made compared to the smaller ones. I remember a Brian Graham video showing him follow the marble down the rollers of the ā€œMiller Machineā€ blasting it with a torch. This was not just because the rollers were not as hot as they should be but to keep the glass from getting folds and imperfections. Vacor has been making big marbles for years and years but they still show up with folds and imperfections. Akro and others abandoned these big ones because they wanted perfection. One inch was about as good as they could do. Peltier did not do as well and many big Pelts do show up with folds and imperfections. Yours is an Akro. Sometimes color is the key. Here is my ā€œBlurryā€. Not too easy, no size as of yet, two images to get you folks going. Marble—On!!
