  1. Ric, Just look on the end flap of this box, it will clearly state Master Glass Co. Master Made Marbles was just a selling point. Once Master Glass finished the purchase and takeover of Master Marble Company, there was one individual strictly assigned to disperse of the entire old Master Made inventory. Some of it may have been put into these boxes but the ones that I have seen—many, have all included marbles made by Master Glass. Master Glass filled these boxes. There is one larger than this, #10, I think that Ron has shown one, it is quite rare with marble game rules on the back. Master Glass also filled many of the later Akro "gift boxes" showing kids playing mibs on the front or top of the box. I have always wondered about the oxblood patches that these later gift boxes were filled with at times. They do not look like an Akro made marble to me—nice oxblood, just not the same. Master Glass purchased Akro (1951?) and who knows just what they did with all of the stock and glass recipes. These are very cool looking boxes that rarely have any really nice marbles inside. Unless of course you are into Master Glass marbles like I am---I even like the cats. Marble--On!!
  2. The orignal post from Fire looks accurate to me as far as the marbles go. Ric, Yours was backfilled with Master Made Marbles with the exception of the upper left which is an Imperial imho. The clear and white on the right side above the nice Sunburst is what I would expect to see, more than others any listed. These boxes look great, but the marbles inside usually deserve to be inside of the box in a display. A great example of Master Made vs Master Glass Marbles. I have some that you can fill this box with Ric--display the rest--they are nice ones. Marble--On!!
  3. Believe it or not, Swarovski made a Ground hog. A day late---- I know, but this one predicts an early spring 🌼.
  4. You are definitely in the right area of the world to find some very desirable marbles. Keep up the good work and continue to--- Marble—on!!!-- my friend.
  5. Made in the USA--very interesting. I have my sniper rifle out on this one. Marble--On!!
  6. Da Roberto is from Italy--lets check him out on this. A PM is in order for sure. Marble--On!!
  7. You just never know do you? A very cool find and story---I am headed to the basement to check out my plumbing supplies!! Marble--On!!
  8. This is a new term to me. I would love to see some, as would many here on this board. Marble On my marble collecting Friend!!
  9. I am a big fan of the underachievers. I always try to overachieve when sorting, if not, I would have never found these two. Finding ones like these in a lot always gets my desire to continue collecting flowing. Here are two little Cleary’s (out of the wild). The first one is just over ½” the other, the really nice blue one is 5/8-11/16”. The little one has a ground pontil on both ends, no lutz, just bubbles. The blue one has a melted pontil at both ends . This one is quite out of round but it has a color that is unreal and not replicated in any marble that I own—very pretty blue. Blue was and is a very expensive color of glass to produce, so I am not surprised to see that this one made the mark for sales. (excuse the reflections of my backdrop. They are both flawless) Search like you mean it and be rewarded! Marble—On!!
  10. Your first and second mages are worthy of posting for sure. The third one is more than likely Asian. The last one looks like a dug Akro. I would consider posting any marbles’ that you have out of this lot that hold three or more colors. There just may be some good ones yet to be seen. Marble—On !!
  11. This is more than likely an Akro from the start of a run when the rollers were cold. The texture explains that, orange peel is not an Akro trait, they were too fussy back then. This one looks like it was a dug marble, a nice keeper though. Marble--On!!
  12. This one looks like it may be translucent. Shine a light throught it and get back to us with the results. Marble--On!!
  13. It is a cool old marble and that may be all that you get on this one. One image makes it look handmade. I love the image with the break away nut. How did you do that? Marble--On!!
  14. Heaton Ox has it's own way Da Roberto. It is more of a dried looking thing than a fresh dripping thing. I suck at WVS ID but because of the oxy looking part, I will call this one a Heaton. Marble--On!!
  15. Verrrry cool my friends. Possible Viking marbles and a possible Viking ring. You just never know what to expect when you start a post. I love them both, and thanks for sharing them. Dig--On!!
  16. OK diggers, Get your best with dirt and put them in Lucite. I am a buyer!! Many would be. Great paper weight for sure. I would consider any options on the idea😁. Marble--On!!
  17. I think that you meant gave it a "swirl" I may have found a few "Jorks" just lately; I may be fussier than others on the Jork thing just because I am a”cork-head". I will get some images together. I have one that almost fooled me, like the one that you posted some time ago---great fun that one! (Jorks are jabo's that look like an akro corkscrew for those of you that are wondering----I like them--kind-of🙈) Marble--On!!
  18. They still are mighty fine my friend, just a tad more costly surprisingly, not too much inflation as far as slags go. I would love to have this box in my collection. a keeper for sure no matter the condition. Marble--On!!
  19. I would love to see a "Sweet Potato Pie" "Jork" Marble--On!!
  20. I love the nut--once again, keep it coming. Sweet Potato Pie---Really? And I thought that I was getting lost in the whole tech thing. Great name, Jabo I agree😁
  21. This one is a WVS--I cannot name it though. I love brown marbles. Marble-On!!
  22. I love the dirt. They should be put into a block of lucite for posterity. Oh-Oh a new sellers quest. Marble--On!!
  23. The whole process of making a slag vs. a swirl is the same in the machine-made, more modern process vs. the first hand-gathered, or early machine made, slag days. The “batch of glass” was one mix of colors as determined by the maker. In the case of slags or transparent base swirls, white and a transparent based color. The collector’s eye determines the difference. I would call this one a slag because of the multitude of actions in the swirling. Later slag’s or swirls, made by various companies, look more like a transparent based swirl than a slag because of the lack of multitude in the intense swirling action in the interior/exterior white part of the marble. Slags are swirls and swirls are slags no matter the color involved. The transparent based ones are known by collectors as slag’s—or in the lack of intense inner/outer action, transparent based swirls. The marbles with many/few colors besides white and a transparent base are known as swirls. These are collector terms for the most part. This one may show fluorescence -does it? Marble—On!!
