The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...
akroorka replied to bumblebee's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Killer "two tab" schmoozer! These little ashtrays always amaze me with the variety of shades and colors involved--almost as many as a corkscrew. Some of these come with an amazing amount of Ox or UV and many line up with the more rare corks/akros such as oxblood and lemonade. I just love these things. We used to hunt these but just like corks--there are a lot of "commons". Thanks for sharing it--great find. Marble--On!! -
I have not hunted for awhile but I did the same. I have butchered beef, pigs and chickens/etc. I do not mind it a bit and actually--I love doing it. It is an art. Doing it yourself--nothing gets wasted--nothing. I miss a good neck roast--slow and low.

Are you fricking kidding? Or has AI taking over here? You know that we will se the real thing in the not too distant future. Cool stuff! Marble--On!!

The "Imperials" are less refined as far as the seams go. You can feel them with your fingernail. The Master Marbles--both the older and the newer versions show the seam in a smoother, more refined fashion. There are always exceptions--Imperials came from a multitude of machines in quite a variety of countries. The colors also play a role here, but the Imperials are quite close in many occasions. Master Marbles were made to compete with the stone Agates, so they had to stand up—very hard glass. “Imperials” were made to compete with the world—just a glass marble—ho hum. Marble—On!!

I carried this one in my pocket at work for many years to help keep me grounded. I still have it on my desk--maybe I should start carrying it again. Marble--On!!

Marble Games--ID---show us what you have!
akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in Marble Runs & Marble Games
Solitary Checkers--two of them. One has Akro marbles, the other has Vitro marbles. The west coast must have been trying to keep up? Who knows--just a cool find. Marble--On!! -
Marble Games--ID---show us what you have!
akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in Marble Runs & Marble Games
It is 5”X 5”, made of glass, mold pressed no doubt and the little glass marbles are ¼’. Some of the marbles still have remnants of a seam that looks to be from a “bullet mold”—go figure. The glass plate has two sides, one square and one diamond. There are no markings on the box or paper work but the glass is mold stamped, “REGISTERED”, “REGISTRE”, “MADE IN”, “CZECHO-SLOVAKIA”. -
Hey Ric you may try a pencil over paper rub to get a more definite image. Here it is a again, an Artist with a crappy signature. I never quite figured that one out. Such a find hand with a paintbrush or torch/etc in this case and a crappy use of the fingers. My Pa should have been an artist--we could never read his chore lists--either could my mother😁. At least van Gogh got it right😁. Marble--On!!

Vacor ID Jellyfish, Pinky and what are these?
akroorka replied to The Nickel Guy's topic in Marble I.D.'s
The bottom images shows what Vacor lists as an Aura--the same marble as a "Jelly Fish". Just a newer name. Vacor renames marbles a bunch. Marble--On!! -
Yep--I say that all of the time but you have to pull your socks up sometimes and move on. Go to a car show--I love them all but to take them all home? Marble--On!

Wolf, this is a Akro "Silver Oxblood", nothing more---- They are rare (for me at least) to find in this nice condition. You made a good choice imho. The seller has no taste in marble ID but I will wait for your images--this type may have small some glow to them but rarley. Marble--On!!

I feel a test here--nice job Alan--you rascal!. Marble--On!!

IS That a Orange-Ade with Oxblood?
akroorka replied to marblemanvintagemarbles's topic in Marble I.D.'s
I am looking only at the first image here. There is not enough for an ID according to the first image. There may be a purple Popeye--not--- but you know what I am saying. Split them up a bit and give different views. I think that the one that you are talking about is a nice Vitro with OX--lol. It is a nice group but if this is a sales image it was set up to decieve imho. Marble--On!! -
These came in 100 count boxes listed or named as "Prize Name", different colors and different rows--some times two rows of the same color. Not quite a white base with this type--just special. I am not ready to call it a "blood and bones" but it sure as heck was probably from the same origin. Marble--On!!

Is That a Bleed Through or a Tracer?
akroorka replied to marblemanvintagemarbles's topic in Marble I.D.'s
"Tracer" is a Peltier trait named by Gino Biffany. An older marble collector(rip) that was a Telephone technician (yep telephones like those that hang on the wall with cords attached). He named these after the little white lines that that some colors had on the wires that he worked with everyday. He was and still is one of the greatest Peltier collectors known. Never associate the name tracers with anything but Peltier "Tracers". Respect! Marble--On!! -
It is a Vitro--just a vitro--- Marble--On!!

These are pretty common but hard to put down without looking at two or three times. A collection of these will light up any room. A very nice marble! Great images! Marble--On!!

I get what @Fire1981 is saying here but I would lean towards an opinion from @Mojo--it may be from across the Atlantic ocean. Marble--On!!

I agree with Pelt Rainbo but I have a story for marbles like these so just put up with my rambling please. A younger girl/boy was into shooting marbles, he/she kept them in an old tin coffee can in the chicken coop—then he/she found out about other things and there they sat for quite a few years until discovered by some nut that collected them. This one was probably on the bottom collecting a drip or two from the leaking roof, never to see chickens again. The chickens are gone but I bet that he/she wonders what ever happened to the marbles. Yep—I am a bit crazy—but fun as well, I hope. Marble—On!!
