  1. Nice post @Fire1981! I was just about to ask about the second one from the left in the middle row. I have similar ones in both red, green, blue and yellow.
  2. I thought this could be an interesting topic. Let me start with Benoît Brisefer by Pierre "Peyo" Culliford. Benoît Brisefer was a character that Peyo created between 1960 and 1978, before he gained success with the Smurfs. Benoît is a boy, about 8-10 years old and what sets him apart from other people is his abnormal physical strength. I think seven albums were translated into Swedish. Here Benoît is playing marbles in the album "Le cirque Bodoni" and the marble pyramid is unfortunately pulverized by his shot.
  3. Hippobirdsheep.... or maybe Hippofinchwool... or Hippowoodpeckerclone... Thank you kindly, @Ric!
  4. Aaah! Now I get it. You are probably thinking of ”bowls” or ”lawn bowls”, right?
  5. So… We can’t always be sure if a wirepull is Dutch (Veiligglass) made or German made or if there ever was such a thing as a German made wirepull marble?
  6. Only on Sundays. It would be cruel not to let them rest, once in a while, from the usual 30 kg.
  7. Swedish children play with heavier boules than the adults, just to pack as much muscle mass as possible.
  8. Fantastic pictures, Ric and thank you Winnie! 🕯️💚 If we return to this thread of mine, I would be uncertain that 1, possibly 2 and 3 are Veiligglass.
  9. Great to ID the first one. I think it's a very good looking marble. I thought Asian as well as well for a while... They could be but they look different to my other Asians; The pattern and the contrast of the colours. Tricky for sure.
  10. Oh yes, quite heavy. For maximum impact and force forward.
  11. @Da Roberto and @Ric, Do you agree that the first one is a Vacor Liberty? Still clueless about the second and third.
  12. Interesting question. I've only seen metal ones, like these:
  13. I think I knew this before but now… I can’t figure it out. Veiligglass wirepull has become my target when I look for marbles at second hand stores. I recognize one when I see it. But some time ago I gut some German wirepulls from @Mojo and when I looked at them yesterday I was baffled because I couldn’t really tell them apart from some of my recent Veiligglass wirepulls. Am I losing it or have I mistaken it all in some way…? Here are the Germans…
  14. I agree. In my experience, the month of March can be a trickster here in southmost Sweden. I’ve had snow on my birthday, the 8th, a couple of times.
  15. Took the marbles for a walk today, to the village community boule court.
  16. I thought I might post a couple of pictures of the marbles and how they were presented, the last time they were in production. These are factory sealed jars that I got from the last owner, Lars Nilsson. He had a few jars left.
  17. And while we are messing about with the minerals; This is a 15 mm ball of pure bronzite.
  18. I don’t think I would be able to identify it myself but I got it from Joep and he says that it’s Veiligglass.
