  1. When Alox closed they had rolls of unused original bag headers and rolls of unused mesh bags thousands of each plus Alox marbles. I have some of each. Many of these has been backfilled by people other than the Alox company. So you will find original bags filled by Alox and many that were not or do not contain Alox marbles. Your swirl marbles look like Alox. Alox did buy marbles from other companies before starting their own production and afterwards. They bought marbles from Master Ravenswood and i am convinced from Alley and probably others. So the marbles in the bag are the best indication if maybe originall filled by Alox or at least with Alox marbles. A rare original Alox mesh bag with Paul Bunyan marbles.
  2. As far as I know no one has ever found the Woolworths mesh bag with Cairo marbles. Another rare Cairo Novelty item is the board game Trap The Fox. It used Cairo swirl marbles as game pieces.
  3. I agree most are Alley. We dug the black and orange at Pennsboro.
  4. I think Jerry's is Akro. Just stating that the Cairo you posted like many marbles may be known by different names. But at least it is recognized as a Cairo Novelty. To me the Cairo's are more red than the similar Akro's. To me the Cairo's usually have larger bubbles than the similar Akro's. Some of the similar Akro's have more defined oxblood than others of this similar Akro. Some of the similar Akro the red looks more burnt red. There has been many opinions if the similar Akro's are actual oxblood or not ? Again it depends on everyone's own opinion on what is oxblood ? To me the red on the Cairo's is usually thinner than on the similar Akro's. Just my guess I think Jerry's was made by Akro. Because of the twist of the red. Because of the darker more solid red color or maybe oxblood ? Because of the size of the bubbles. I think the next two which you posted were made by Cairo Novelty. I again probably should have stayed quiet.
  5. Which Charleston ? I agree the white base with blue is a common well known Akro corkscrew. A definate machine made not handmade and no pontils.
  6. I purchased the Cairo's several times from a seller who said that he named them scarlet orgasm. So out of respect I have called them that. I have no idea which was first or correct ? He did tell me more than once that he wished. That he had picked another name and probably should change it. But it was probably to late to change things. At least a lot of people recognize the marble as a Cairo Novelty now.
  7. I don't know of any aventurine in any of the Bogard bananas. Many of Jacks marbles had seedy glass or bubbles large and small. Some of the bubbles may look like av. Yes Jack Bogard packaged a lot of his marbles in left over Heaton Agate bags, According to Jack he produced all the banana cats made at the Heaton factory location. He never was able to have any success at selling the banana cat eyes. Jack produced the Mountaineer blister package of cat eyes. He told me that he had 3 to 5 cents in the entire package. Materials labor marbles and package. The best he ever sold them for was 2 cents a package. He was amazed and shaking his head when he seen me have one for sale at $20.00. This is how i meet Jack Bogard. We both lived near or in Parkersburg WV. We finally meet at a marble show in Canada.
  8. I would say yes. I have seen some of the Bogard curl almost all the way around. Some of his had three blades or veins and some had four.
