  1. I just left Jabo tonight. We were putting these marbles in special box sets. The WVMCC had 100 special boxes made with the WVMCC logo and 2011,that hold twenty of these marbles. They will be for sale during the show,if there is any left. About 60 are already sold. The name of this special run done by Dave alone,is WVMCC 2011. This was also a short run,not the usual numbers of these marbles available.
  2. This is the final warning. As of today Comfort Suites had 7-8 rooms open,in the group blocked by the WVMCC for the marble show group. Tommorow is the last day that they are blocked, then they are open to anyone. The hotel has people on a cancelation list, waiting to make reservations. There is also a wedding and a sports tournament going on there at the same time as the marble show. If anyone has plans of attending the marble show, tommorow(saturday)is the last day to get a room at the hotel where the show is. If you know anyone planning on going, please pass the info along to them. If the weather permits we plan on having the show outside in the court yard. This year we honor the Vitro Agate Company. There should be some unusal original Vitro packages, boxes, bags,at the show. Some that may have never been seen by collectors. Saturday April 30 is the last day for reservations with the marble group. Support all the marble shows.
  3. Thanks to Dave and Harrison,a nice article. Also Bob Neff,he does not get enough credit for putting together and mailing these newsletters. We have a few new and old timers who are going to do articles this coming year, including Peltier and contemporary marbles. The WVMCC dues will most likely increase to $25.00 at our annual meeting May 13,2011 7:00pm. Only 5 days left to get your reservation in for the WVMCC annual spring show. Show day saturday May 14,2011. WVMCC is a non profit organization. The yearly dues does not cover the expense of the newsletters. The benefits from the show and donations make the newsletter possible. Support a marble show. It is your newsletter, share some stories, memories,or marble related information. It is more work for Bob,but he always gets the job done.
  4. WELCOME,stick around you will see and learn so much about all types of marbles.
  5. Edna those were made 11-28-2010 by Dave, not a investor run. We ran the one inch machine 3-4 times before the What A Tribute Too run. It helped smooth and coat the large rolls, plus just some expiermenting. Yes those were marked but there were also mint ones. I thought the children would like some of those larger ones under your tree out front. Head of the class,my high school teachers might have disagreeded,LOL !!!!!!!!! Thanks
  6. More reservations came in. Down to one week to make your reservation.
  7. Thanks Don. I have some Akro pee wees that i dug, maybe a crystal. I will get one in the tin. I learn some each time that i visit with Roger and Claudia. Happy Birthday Roger!!!!!!!a couple days early. I found out from them that each of the popeye boxed sets with the bag, also originally contained a single pee wee in each box. It was also in the bag compartment. Some are crystal and some are opaque. Each popeye box in their collection has the pee wee inside. I remember and have a copy of the article on the akro tins that Don did for the WVMCC newsletter. A GREAT article and pictures. Do some more Don,maybe you can get that other Ron S. to do something. Reminder WVMCC membership renewals are due May 1,or new memeberships $25.00 a year.
  8. Hey sprinkles, hope to see you tuesday. Get the crusher and sifter running,LOL. I had to open a second jar.
  9. WELL SAID ! Come visit. You also Bill, you are overdue.
  10. Welcome to the long list, and growing every month,LOL.
  11. SNYD remind me when it gets near. Hopefully i can make it. Extra Alleys, not me. I have not let go of many Alleys since David Chamberlian was here 3 yrs ago. That was one way to get him to leave. Just kidding David LOL! Come back soon. There is more out there, they didn't make just one.
  12. More answers and more questions. Marble King bags in two catagories, jobber bags and actual MK bags. How do we know which one is what ? Al, do you have or have seen one of the 100 count MK challenger bags from 1940 ?
  13. Thats strange, something with the Marble King name on a price list in 1940-41 and the company was not even founded until 1949? None of my MK boxes have any number.
  14. Yes av,the picture only shows about 1/2 of whats there.
  15. Some thoughts that i have heard around these. The boxes with Champion were first designed for or by Peltier. Alley sold everything at St.Marys 6-1-1949 to Berry Pink and Sellers Peltier. Peltier Co. wanted to get away from the Champion name because of Champion Agate in WV. The St.Marys marble plant became Marble King. So whatver the reason, maybe slow start up,etc. The box was changed to the new Marble King. They were filled with remaining Alley stock,Peltier stock, and then Marble Kings. I have not seen hundreds, but all this type box that i have seen, all contained only one companies marbles. I have never seen the three companies mixed in one of these boxes. Marble King was very precise with packaging,at least in the early years. I opened a original full case of Nestle Quick MK bags. Every single bag had the same exact number of each color marble in each single bag. Every bag in the entire case was identical.
  16. From a attic in Clarksburg WV. To Roger and Claudia for one day, then home with me.
  17. Three original Marble King box sets. All with different companies marbles. But all three have a definate connection. All three companies have a definate connection to one marble plant site. You will also see this same box except it may have CHAMPION printed on it in place of MARBLE KING.
  18. An Alley that i got at Decatur. Lucky Bill and Ric was not there yet.
