  1. well I would say 2 were starters but then caught on . the colors seam different and the one two color orange and green the orange on this marble is translucent , the one with the lutz and all green is marked VS 5/99 well who in 1999 marked there marbles VS ?? I do think there from the same artist but ??
  2. I would stick to a liquid polymer I use one that is water soluble , it is a hard floor wax used in the local schools on there floors and they get a lot of traffic easy to use and lets you just soak in water if you want it back to original . Mike before waxing it takes a few times as I do let it run as it is a thin as water so very little must be put on , like tying to get the top wet , yes it does take a few hours but it does dry very as because it is so thin . done I used this because It was from work but have not done in a few years .
  3. well facebook is way harder to figure out then this . just click on lower right more reply options then on the lower left the browse ,
  4. well some times before sell I search to see how it should be listed and if some of the wording seams right and seller got a good price I use a few of the words that might help , I even got the same guy , now a different picture and insert . I found this because i do search the word Vidrio looking for different items . wonder how much he will make , Mike new posting with different picture and insert http://www.ebay.com/itm/151236366830?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT my auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Vidrio-hard-rubber-gear-shift-knob-changeable-picture-/181293770119 I have done this with marbles of the last lot I just got . as I will list a few the hollow stellie for sure . Lot of 9 Vtg Antique & Contemporary Marbles Glass, Steeli... (111274270553) I happened to get the marbles in todays mail very nice does any one remember VS 5/ 99 was the year , a while before I was interested in contemporary marbles . after looking at the signature it might not be VS but ?? Mike
  5. well I email Fred and here is reply . Mike "Very interesting and I’m sorry that I know nothing about this item. I’m a novice chewing gum collector as well as a novice marble collector. I collect US made razor blade wrappers. I have over 4000 different US made wrappers. As I’m looking for additions to my razor wrappers, I find all types of things that catch my eye so I have marbles, gums, doorstops and other cast iron items, vintage advertising items, tobacco, coffee and other tins. Sorry I couldn’t be of help,"
  6. just a quick search this might help . Mike http://www.atticpaper.com/vintage-candy-ads.php?pg=3
  7. well I won this lot just wondering if any one has an idea who might have made these still coming so have to use pics off the bay . I at first thought were early Mike Petura ?? just had to try and get as they were listed in Vintage and I wanted the 1 inch hollow steelie . but got them all so what did I get . Mike I am just guessing that there from the same artist ?/ Mike
  8. well I don't think so, as someoldandsomenew2 thinks every thing is old . Here is the link to the marble. I bet it will go very high as it is all ready at $280 and only 83 people looked I wonder how mant others are watching ? 6d 04h (Feb 20, 2014 19:00:33 PST) over 6 days to go . very nice marble . http://www.ebay.com/itm/GROUND-FACETED-PONTIL-GERMAN-BIG-STRIPED-TRANSLUCENT-MARBLE-1-1-4-1880s-/331129208234?pt=Marbles&hash=item4d18d6bdaa
  9. yes they are very common and I think for Canada for sure because of the French ?? French Canadians . I pick up just because of the header . There are plenty more . Mike
  10. well here they are a new big with the marbles in a net ?/ . or have they been out a long time just I first saw these. Mike
  11. well I think I will jump in but not so close but I think it is not a lattice core but what would be a core less with two layers of outer lines if it had a core it would be a 3 stage ? Mike
  12. I will jump in and say Steve Maslach because of the one sided outer lines but a very nice one . Mike
  13. Hi Chris wow as rare as they get I think a banded opaque butterfly ? what size is it . Mike I have one and when I bought they laugh and said some day some would want it . wish it was whole .
  14. Thanks for the link I always appreciated the whole history ever since being introduced to it in high school , in fact we even did a school play on the diary . Mike
  15. well I thought it was rare and then I search the best book of all Ebay just searched ""blue and white"" in hand made and found this , so I think mine would be close but smaller as mine is about 5/8 , Mike Antique Vintage Blue & White Solid Ribbon Core Glass German Swirl Marble http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Vintage-Blue-White-Solid-Ribbon-Core-Glass-German-Swirl-Marble-/231134993782?pt=Marbles&hash=item35d0b81d76 still the best book and it is on line . Tomorrow I will look for some others that are a multi color solid core and look to see if solid or a tight divided core and I think that what would be called a solid core is a very tight divided core ?? here are the same pics but not cropped might be a better view as some times a little away is a better view ?? Mike
  16. well how about a 5/8 blue and white Latticinio naked and a single ground pontil . Mike
  17. here is a red and white alternating latticino core. it on the bask side has two red and two white next to each so all are not alternating and a three stage there both 5/8 and just got a while ago ,have others that are bigger what I like are the ground pontils on the smaller marbles as they are mostly a good looking marble and well constructed . Mike
  18. well I know that they are for sure exotic . Mike
  19. well as I look at this auction it just screams fake bad pictures and bids by two people with out meeting reserve I do not know any one involved but it is all wrong in my option . Mike $725.00 Reserve price not met [ 23 bids ]
  20. Hi, Can you tell me the "square footage" dimension of how many marbles there are if they are on a mat one marble deep? I'm thinking of using them for an art project for my son's room. Thanks! Joni Beigh p.s. I need a total of about 6 square feet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-8-420-marbles-all-with-damage-all-vintage-/111259357035?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 this is easy as just figure that every marble is .625 and there is 20 marbles by 21 marbles so with no space between each marble it would be 12.5 inches by 13.125 inches and that is 164.0625 square inches or 164.0625in² = 1.1393ft² so it is only 1.1393 square feet so you would have to buy a few more and I have a lot more chipped marbles if you need more . the board is 16inches by 16 inches and the holes that hold the marbles are 3/4 on center . hope this helps . View Pics and Bid . Mike
  21. well I have been on the bay since 1998 and for sure there are always great deals on the bay . Just have to be willing to bid and bid ofter even if you do not even think you will get it . there are a few that stick out one being a 1.250 plus moss agate ade . it was a lot of 257 marbles and on one bid but me . $49.00 . sold off some and kept the rest . I even bought my Bronzed marble trophy on the bay from a Bob Block auction that was one to remember . here are a few pics of the 257 lot to me it looked like most from a 350 box but the best even that for some reason the big one was in a Box ? the thought of the story still make me think what a story it would tell . O also the rare akro box I sold to Hansel was in with a Wolverine toy and it was a freak as the Seller had it listed twice so I had to bid and win both auctions . Mike I kept so many I even had to make another tall cabinet as I still keep all what I think would make a 350 box missing on a few . well there were a lot of pictures in the 257 lot auction and I save them so I how the slide shows what I could see to bid on . Mike http://smg.photobucket.com/user/mmuehlba/slideshow/deals this is the big moss agate ade patch is not in the same cabinet as the others . so yes I even sell lots on the bay and know others split them up but as I know that if you want a deal you have to give a deal . Mike
  22. went to sight and very nice here is link that is very nice on utube . Mike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nwr67VBHIo&feature=c4-overview&list=UUP_kW6qSe_R-ZtnPLVC-YtA
  23. HI Bert sent me this could be could be Jeff Mentuck, Justin McMillen, or John Madden from co., now for the search to find this signature . Thanks Mike this came up under Jeff Mentuck not a marble and the signature does not match Fantastic Jeff Mentuk / Marblehead American Studio Art Glass 6 1/2" Cabinet Vase well now that all these pics are here and I keep the album if any one searches these name these will be here on the inner web .. Mike I did find one marble with the same signature but the seller has no Idea who or where or even if the name is correct . and he is calling it Handmade by J. Meyers. Marble is Signed: "JM". This marble measures 1 1/16. This is a Very Interesting and Pretty marble originally purchased in 2002. It consists of a two layered random swirl in shades of Blue and Yellow. There are various insets around the marble set in clear glass windows. Very interesting design from a Fine Artist. (229979) This is a great example of work from J. Meyers. And Bet did not say J. Meyers. Mike
  24. I got an email into Bert see if he replies with an answer , I fund two listed on the bay and asked but they also have no idea . but what about that 7 twist one as I count the blue line and came up with 7 , ?? these were with the lot of 2400 marbles I got before Christmas so far most of the new ones are gone / sold on the bay well only 2,000 sold so far . If I find out who made these they will end up there , Mike
