lstmmrbls
IMO It is an old German Handmade Mica. And if mint would probably be worth 3-5 Xs that price.
Speed Racer
Colors look right but the pic is crappy to say the least. You'd think it would come with a lot of pics including pontil pics. This is an current auction so I can't say much.
Speed Racer
So maybe that is a good pic after all and it has a lot of surface/pocket wear.
marblemansion
So maybe that is a good pic after all and it has a lot of surface/pocket wear. Nothing in the description lends itself to pontils, or antique, and the mica looks new - not old.
Speed Racer
Perhaps the seller would be more forthcoming if you asked them. I don't have the mib in hand to go any further.
bermar
Here's one in amber at 1-3/8". These pics show the pontil marks and these are hard to see as well.
ziggyzora
It looks new from here. The old micas I have are much less uniform in spread, and do not photograph like this albeit they are all smaller.
ziggyzora
Bermars are without doubt very nice old ones, my post crossed paths.

I thought they were selling a 'Blizzard' which should be uniformly spread throughout, right?
lstmmrbls
In hand you can tell. This is a problem with one pic. That is a good reason one should always ask the seller for more pics if there are any questions or doubts about any marble for sale on Ebay. zaboo
fwiw... I know who is selling this...and he knows his marbles! If i was in the market for one, I would have no probelm believing what he says it is.
I'llhavethat1
Some times the older Mica marbles in this size have more evenly distributed Mica. They probably took a bit more time in making the marble (think of most of it being positioned closer to the surface, not so much inside like you'd see on the smaller ones getting twisted randomly off a cane). One pic doesn't tell me if it's old or new but I've seen some older ones that look similar.
marblemansion
great information thanks everyone!
ann
Some times the older Mica marbles in this size have more evenly distributed Mica. Sometimes smaller ones do too -- I have a couple of ground pontil "blizzard" micas that are about 1" with mica distribution this even. I'm just puzzled at the seller posting only one picture, and not a particularly good one, at that. I wouldn't buy any marble from one pic . . . Scoop
Everything I see in the auction looks OK to me..... There just isn't ENOUGH in the auction!!! If I were looking to spent that kind of money on that kind of marble, I'd sure want a little bit more than "NM" as a condition description... Either in words, or photos.... If 15¢ is too much to spend for additional photos (and, it may be no charge in this category??) I can suggest a way of adding free photos from Photobucket... The opposite of TMI, is NEI..... I'llhavethat1
Thanks Ann, it seems the ones ~1"+ show a "blizzard" pattern more than 5/8"s etc would. Your guess at one pic is as good as mine. .
