winnie
Saw the blue Pelt slag,Ric posted in his thread "nice American Agate",now i'm wondering could this be a Pelt slag? I've got it from the States. winnie
Ric
Nice marble, Winnie. The one I posted is just under 9/16". What size is this one?
winnie
It's 9/16. The measure is an indication in this case, for being a pelt? winnie
clydetul62
Size isnt an indicator on pelt slags. Anything over 3/4" is rare though. Only cac made peewee slags that I know of. When taking pics of most slags(unless there is something on the inside you want to showcase.) take a couple where the design on outside is easier to see. winnie
Sorry, this marble is extreme transparant,so hard to photograph the design on the surface. The opaque white that you see on this marble is almost all on the surface, there is little inside. winnie
semdot
I dont see anything Peltish about it, although it could be. Have to see it in-hand.
ann
Pelt made peewee slags -- HTF, though (for me, anyway). Only have one. Well, Technically maybe not a peewee -- it's 9/16.
clydetul62
Definately not peewee at 9/16". I have a cobalt guinea at 33/64". It's technically not peewee either. For true peewee slags 1/2" or under I have only seen CAC.
I'llhavethat1
Hard to say Winnie. The glass on your marble is very clear and also striking color and pattern. I packed away a couple like this the other day I'll see if I can dig them out for another look. I see what you might be seeing as well, some Peltier marbles do have patterns that look similar. If you have this in hand maybe you could describe what's shown dead center 1st view and 5 o'clock, on the view to it's right. Is it a fold of glass, or...? winnie
There is no fold that i can see. Here are some pic- with different lighting. I've problems to catch the real color. In hand it sure is more blueish. The only thing that strikes me about this one is all the fine lines on the surface, and the transparancy. winnie
machinemades
I think there is a good chance that it is Peltier. Gorgeous marble no matter who made it. Sami
ann
I think there is a good chance that it is Peltier. Gorgeous marble no matter who made it. Sami I agree. Look at the pattern. And very, very pretty.
honeybern
is it a true blue or a turquoise as in the OP? nice marble
clydetul62
Pelt made some very bright sky blue and turquoise blue. Yours also looks like it has the yin/yang pattern. Any yin/yang whether it be a slag or nlr is htf and more desirable. Very nice slag.
Geko
Looks like a pelt.
I'llhavethat1
I didn't find them but found this pic I took earlier, I think the blue might be close (yours obviously has a lot less opaque white.
winnie
Yes thats the pattern, mine looks like the little green one but has less opaque. The color is the same as the middle one but mine is more transp-. thanks, winnie
Ric
Winnie, I hope you don't mind my adding another to the thread. The pattern on this one is not as well organized, and being white and clear transparent it's really hard to photograph, but it looks Peltish to me. Anyone have any thoughts? winnie
Don't mind at all,i've read in "marble collectors handbook"of RS. Block page 94,that Peltier didn't make clear glass based slags, would that be true....? I see a bit of that pattern in the first pic-. winnie
migbar
In the early days, from 1925 to 1927 and on, Peltier did make white onyx marbles, along with amber, green, azure blue, royal blue, purple, and cerise; in sizes from #00 to #5. mike
Geko
I agree with Mike. Here is one of my Pelt white slag.
jormibnut
Peltier also made a fluorescent slag. I had some in a Lucky Boy box several years ago. Art
Ric
Hey Art, Were they HG or all machine? Did they show reverse twists or feathering? Any details? This inquiring mind wants to know . . .
