ann
Ann, those eggs are so cute. Might have to make some this weekend. What are the eyes made from? Pieces of black olive . . .
stacyw
You know, I had been wondering about this since you posted the pic. Raisins didn't sound appetizing and peppercorns would be too spicy and then today while driving I was thinking - black olives! Yes, that would work. And then I saw your answer . kbobam
Here's a black olive concept I think the world should know. Tunafish. Sliced or chopped black olives on top take a tunafish sandwich or sub to a whole new level of ecstasy. A little provolone doesn't hurt either. Just thought of something. Was thinking at first that Stacy was worrying too much about whether the eye material would clash taste-wise, since it's such a small part. I was dead wrong. Remembered that eggs Benedict absolutely requires a couple olive slices as a garnish. Doesn't have much taste effect overall. But of course it still needs to blend in well. stacyw
Black olives on the tuna sub makes perfect sense to me - Salad nicoise on a bun! And provolone is a must on any sub in my book. As for the Eggs Benedict -yum. On any trip to a diner, morning, noon or night, that's what I am most likely to order.
kbobam
I'm with you! If it's on the menu, I'll most likely get it. Went to a Denny's 20 or so years ago, and was thrilled to see they had eggs Benedict. The rest of it's all a blur, but I remember at one point the manager was explaining to me that it was served with their 'Special Cheese Sauce'. kbobam
Okay, this is a little off-topic, but since 'The Dollar Tree' has already been mentioned, wanted to mention this as well. Lately they've had 64 oz. sizes of 'Awesome' laundry detergent. This has always been great stuff and a real bargain in the usual 48 oz. size. So this is, well, awesome. kbobam
Thanks for bringing back the 'regional food' thing! It all looks and sounds great! Wish I could eat the mushrooms, but it's my one food allergy and a real humdinger. What's the new marble? Looks terrific, but can't see it well in the small picture. stacyw
Love the cat and salmon pic. And I hope he got some - the poor kitty looks like he could use a good meal.
zaboo
If we get another good score this next fall, I will send you some Galen! yep kitty got some. he gets anything he wants... always, just like the dog! lol he does look kinda funny there, it's the shadows. he was in the process of losing the winter coat. Norwegian forest cats only shed twice a year. so he looks patchy, and somewhat multi colored. here's a better picture.. avatar picture steph? blue and green alley with aventurine. picture of summer fur and levi winter fur.. he's a puddin. Steph
My thought when I saw the first pic was he looks like he enjoys the benefit of moving around more than my kitties do.
stacyw
Awww, he's a sweetie! Norwegians and Maine Coons are such mushes. We have one now who sheds his whole coat in the Spring too. He does not even look like the same cat before and after. Thanks for the cute pictures.

My Maine coon cat, Baby likes lobster, too! She also can fly and run up an eight foot verticle wall!

kbobam
Here's a split-second moment from a British sitcom, which shows what someone was eating for breakfast. After studying it for a while, it doesn't look bad. But it's funny how there was an immediate reaction of American "WTH?". Beans and hunks of tomato just seem a bit unusual. And the toast looks good, but I'm not sure exactly what they've done with it. Personally, as much as I like most of our standard breakfast stuff, I'd rather have it at some other point in the day. If I could have my way first thing in the morning, I'd take a more Asian approach and have some noodle soup with crabmeat and a hardboiled egg in it. zaboo
bob have you ever had japanese crab and egg soup? OMG the best! huge chunks of king crab, in an egg soup base with fresh bamboo, sliced mushroms and topped with sliced green onions.. now that would be a great breakfast! LOL! stacyw
The British " beans and tomato" for breakfast thing is a bit weird at first, but after you are there a few days, you realize that you had better develop a taste for it because it's the best meal you will get all day. And it's not bad when you get used to it. And Zaboo that's cool that Japanese cats are different! I remember that on a visit to Russia ( 30+years ago) the cats looked different there too - longer ears.
