winnie
Have this marble as long as i remember,it's translucent 11/16. Years back it's IDed as not American made. It has something kind of like a pontil but if someone told me those are cold rolls i believe it aswell,on the white side there are several small asmade dents. Steph
Looks machine-made to me.

winnie
Think you both are right. So it's a machine made patch from the 50s or older, not American made. Well at least i've something to think about, thats the fun of marbles.
kbobam
The blues are beautiful. Very soothing. Does the base have some blue to it, or is that just guilt by association? ( :
winnie
Yes,there is blue in the base, the almost transparant blue smears out over the white filling. There is a short straight line in the blue, almost looks like a cut off.
BobBlock
The handmade Corkscrews are all made from the "soft" glass like you see in Clambroths, and they all have pontils on each end.
Guest browse4antiques
Looks more like a cutoff mark (pontil) than it does a cold-roll. There seems to be a bumpy surface in the bottom of the "valley", which would be much more typical of a cutoff. Also, I see the blue on the surface forming to a point, which could be the tip of a very wide "9". How does the base compare with the translucent base of the French patch marbles you posted a few weeks ago? ... Roger
winnie
The glass is,although a little bit darker the same as the French marbles. The glass also looks like some of the Akro's,such as the Ades and the moss agate,it's translucent milky off white.
I'llhavethat1
Are red/milky white in this style more common? Can't say I've seen the blue combo
winnie
Don't know, this is the only one i have in this style.
zaboo
well heck, then this one is a mystery Bob? (LOL) 21/32", single faceted pontil, not soft glass.
BobBlock
Looks like an end of day to me. Very shrunken.
Guest browse4antiques
Normally shrunken EOD would be much more toward the center. I wouldn't say its "shrunken" - as what there is of the onionskin seems to be properly on the surface. Perhaps just a very sparse onion for which they ran out of their supply of glass used for the surface. Nice looking though. ... Roger
