oldmarblenut
That looks like a pale yellow base to me, I sold one like that years ago in a 2-1/8" size, it was on pale yellow, must have been same cane?? it was mint with as mades only, sold for a very hefty price. Notice how the body and one end has no twist? just the cut off end is twisted.
Gnome Punter
Image 10, Dl'ed, using the glare from the light I see no "as made" marks on that photo. I would think I would need high def images of the pontils before spending that kind of money Then again, I do not understand the whole "ground" pontil thing so I am unsure if that would remove the pontil marks
machinemades
Bad pictures and poor description might actually bring higher value on this auction. It is a magnificent marble, but without proper grading and pictures bidders will rely on the limited info and hope for the best.

What sort of as-mades are we looking for? The general wear looks consistent. Was it this marble that sold at Morphy in 2009 for almost $10.000? http://morphyauctions.hibid.com/lot/2585089/4-panel-onionskin-blizzard-mica-marble-?q=blizzard onionskin&date0=10-7-2007&date1=21-3-2014&tab=2 That one looks like the same construction. Probably from the same maker or same cane. I am not sure if it is possible to make make large difference in size marbles from the same cane? oldmarblenut
Jeroen... it looks close, the size was a solid 2-1/8" this auction says 2-1/6", and the yellow as I remember was pale like the one posted, not as bright, also the red and green specks were smaller and thinner like the one posted, I sold it to a collector in Indiana for $5750, my asking price was $6000 It had only slight as made tooling marks and was glossy clean 9.9, I had photo's on my old PC that was destroyed by fire, I think Clyde may have seen it back then. So, you sold a 2-1/8 inch blizzard onionskin in 9.9 condition for $5750? So more or less you gave it away ;-) Just kidding, I think that prices for exceptional marbles rised very much the last years. Who would ever thought a few years ago, that a 7/8 inch pink opaque lutz would sell for $25000! Jeroen
