BuckEye
Howdy, I found all these handmades today. The big onion is over 2" and has a good amount of mica. The blue based one is like 2" as well. Are these rarer? The blue base? Also a few sulphides. One camel one bear, the bear is purple glass. Were there intentional lavender base glass on the sulphides or were they all from being left out in the sun? Thanks for the help! Craig

Steph
Oh yeah, don't you hate guineas and that other junk? (I'd be surprised to hear that purpley sulphides were made on purpose. ... Except that some were purposely aged.)
mmuehlba
I tink they were made like that because if sun colored , I think they / it would be a lot darker . Mike

BobBlock
The purple is caused by the magnesium dioxide in the glass interacting with sunlight.
BuckEye
What about the blue? Is that rarer? I'm not a handmade guy. That's not from the sun too is it? Send me your addresses for gifts
Minnesota Marble
The lighter purple is most often sun dyed as this one appears to be. There are intentionally made dark purple sulphides. Minnesota Marble
lstmmrbls
How purple the glass gets is decided by the intensity and time it spends exposed to U.V. light. Many door knob sets have the exterior knob quite purple while the inside knob will be at the most, a very light lavender They are now using the very strong medical type UV lights to turn the glass made with "Manganese" very purple in a short time. BuckEye
The blue based one is 1 27/32" mint The onionskin is 2 5/32" high near mint, one little chip Anyone have info on the blue?
skycollect
Hello, You see that slight aqua tint sometimes. Not quite as common, but is not really blue enough to drive up the value much in my opinion. Nice marbles you got!
