Steph
Has this one been asked about? I just ran across it in my photobucket and I can't remember if it was asked about. Can't even quite remember where I saw it. I guess someone posted it on Facebook and I was curious? But did I follow up?

Al Oregon
Wasn't this a version of the Spotted Dick?
Steph
That's what I'm sure I was hoping, but I can't remember if that idea was encouraged when I saw the marble posted. So you think so?
lstmmrbls
Ceramic with glazed spots? That was the Spotted Dick I believe. I can not even type that without cracking up.
flanco
What about Aunt Bessies'?
Steph
I soooooo want to try that. Is that available here? Okay, I'm definitely putting it on the shopping list.
flanco
I don't know about Aunt Bessies, but Heinz makes one in a can that should be readily available.

ManofKent
It's incredibly simple to make from scratch: https://britishfoodhistory.wordpress.com/2014/01/23/spotted-dick/ and as a child was a standard school dinner staple. Personally I've never liked steamed suet puddings or the custard that is an essential partner.
Steph
And that's cool too. Never crossed my mind to try to make it. I would surely prefer it fresh to canned. But now that I see the recipe -- and see you use the word "suet" -- I'm having second thoughts. I didn't know/remember that it had animal fat in it.
