wvrons
Some of the best quality and pattern marbles Alley produced were made at Sistersville. Why ? Because they are older. All older machine made marbles are better quality glass and colors. A reason older machine made marbles are higher values. As time went by each company had to cut cost to compete. More companies, more competition, more marbles = cost cutting. Cost cutting means less quality.

You immediately took my mind to my place of employment, Miken Sports. We produce sporting goods products, mainly softball and baseball bats and batting helmets (The ones you see MLB players wearing in the batter's box) We used to make our bats exclusively with a composite/kevlar combination. Now in recent years there has been a transition too mainly silicon barrels with a separate handful, or two-piece bat. The flex technology Is now based in the handle/barrel connection point instead of the barrel itself. Why? Cost cutting too compete against the rival companies. Sorry too get away from marbles but had to spew that out. Back to mibs!
