Chris Parson Posted August 14, 2021 Report Share Posted August 14, 2021 I just got a UV flash light and flashed straight down in my marble boxes. 😄 Most of the marbles didn’t respond or responded very little or partial BUT these yellow opaques had an amazing glow. Don’t know if yellow responds in general or if these are special. THEN I discovered something so cool. Together with my latest lot came two snippets of glass. I don’t know if they were ment to be marbles or not. They are round but not even and have pontils at both ends. And they glow green! 😍 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Steph Posted August 15, 2021 Report Share Posted August 15, 2021 The famous yellow/green glow is from uranium, of course. But other chemicals can do other colors. I'm hesitant to say much because I stumble over the chemical names and the oxides, but I remember calcium being involved somehow in an eery blue glow that I quite enjoy. I have seen it in some of my modern Marble King cat's eyes, and in a vintage jar. I once had a popeye with three or four colors of glow, including blue. But I sold it.
