Fire1981
How would kids buy the Golden Rebels, Bricks, CAC Flames, Corkscrews(spirals) and all of the others that aren’t seen in bags or boxes. Example: If I wanted a Blue Galaxy where would I buy one that’s not on a car lot ? Any ideas ?
Ric
I'd guess that many retailers got marbles in bulk or stock boxes and sold them out of bins for pennies. Gift boxes were most likely reserved for special occasions, especially in the earlier days. There were probably gumball-like dispensers in the later years too. Many were also probably given away as promotional items or incentives too.
Berryb
My dad claimed he never bought a marble, he had to win, or lose, 'em all. Thanks Bruce
I'llhavethat1
You mean back in the day = when they were originally retailed? I wasn't around then, but I suspect most of the nicer one's ended up as matched sets in early catalog gift boxes, at a premium. At the time, a random bulk lot to be delivered to the corner store up the street, makes more sense than the other side of the country.
