Reminds me of the miniature roses that were growing here on my property when I bought the place back in 01'....sadly they fizzled and died off. I tried saving the last one, transplanted and babied it but it failed too. I miss them!

The interesting thing about this and similar marbles is that if you imagine the base glass is white and the white striping is another color you get some real insight into how the patterns on the surface of the opaque marbles are actually produced.

akroorka
Here is an Akro Agate that wanted to be a part of this post. It takes after me, always misbehaving. It cried out to me and I had to post it, I hope that it will quit crying now. Yes, Corkscrews are swirls but this one really wanted to be a swirl on its own—not a corkscrew. (Kids!) What a nice one! I still love her, very much, corkscrew or not! Marble—On!!! 2

It'd be interesting to know how they make these patterns, which are fairly common on newer Chinese marbles. yes Ric i would like to know how these modern marbles are made as well. the ones i got almost look modern handmade ? with most showing ruff spots or dare i say pontil’s at one or both poles some showing a 9 here is another two of my modern mibs
Ric
@Dave 13 I think some of the Chinese marbles are handmade and others may be hand gathered and machine rounded. They show lots of different types on the Alibaba website.
