Greeneyesgreenthumbs
Thanks for your time and input. This is a single Pontil slag type marble. I think some people call them transitional and others say these are a gathered marble. Either way it’s a great marble that I have very little info on who the possible maker is. I’m guessing these are difficult to decipher. I appreciate any tidbits or info that would help here. The Marble measures 0.66” inches in diameter at its widest points.
I'llhavethat1
Handgathered, probably US (I'm thinking Navarre). More often seen in purple Transitional because it would date to the early 1900's, between the time Germany was making the cane cut handmades, and the US companies started to go with a fully automated machine made process (furnace, shears, rollers, etc.). It's a nice looking marble, appears to be in decent shape too.
Marbleneophyte
Navarre is what I thought too when I first saw it. I'm far from an expert but it seems consistent with the description from Marble Alan. White swirls originating from a single pontil often with a nine and tail. dannyboy
Navarre. Melted pontil with some looping out of the pontil. Very nice example. thanks

dannyboy
The base glass color on this one would be transparent amber with a lot of solid white, making it look yellow. These marbles, made by the James Leighton companies, were hand-gathered, hand cut with a sheer, and the pontil was then melted with a torch. There was a Leighton company that did produce transparent yellow base glass marbles. It was located in Barberton, Ohio. They are very hard to find. thanks

It’s a really nice marble I ended up with two of them this one is the better one condition wise the other one is bigger and has some slight surface wear. I appreciate y’all’s time.
