Did anybody go to the number that Ann posted? I did and saw a marble that looked like the one I posted above. It took me a while to do the pics, upload, and post over here. By the time I had it done, Alan had posted a link. I followed it and i see a different marble. I went back to Ann's number and it doesn't come back up but has the pic that Alan's link took me too. Has the seller put up a bad pic and replaced it? the one that is posted now also looks wilganoski to me. ??????? the marble in the new pic does not have pontils on it that stick out and look like crystal glass roughed up.

We do not collect antique hand mades, so I'm really not an authority. I have a contemporary Indian by Fred Wilganoski from Texas. Here's what it looks like. Fred doesn't put pontils on his. Having said that..... not being a collector of these i really don't know what the pontils should look like on an antique one. the pontils on the ebay one look to me like crystal glass. Did the Indians have an outer layer of crystal glass? could those pontils have been added to a Wilganoski marble to make it look old? Or is that really old? Edna

thank you! They're coming out of the vitro box. Edna

So, are they vitro, MK, or Bogard?

pic from one pole - 4 vane cateye, lots of bubbles or debris pic from the other pole, obviously 4 vane cats

OK, I'm home from the Waller 4th of July celebration. We are skipping the fireworks, been in the 103 degree temps all day. I've looked at the marbles again and they are definitely 4 vane cateyes. I bought them from Bud Cloven and I haven't known him to miss many ID's. In fact, I don't know of any he's missed. he said Vitro Agate. I'm questioning vitro or MK. Pics to follow showing the 4 vanes and one white stripe on the side of each one. Edna

I bought these a few years ago. They were sold to me as Vitro snowflakes. Are they Marble King or Vitro Agate? Edna

Banned At Marble King Of America
sissydear replied to david Chamberlain's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
That is funny. He banned me too several months back after I had found out it wasn't the place for me. Then I read where he stated he had not banned anybody. How many does that make who are banned at the freedom of speech place? I think I was banned the week the link was posted on this board. That gives me the dubious honor of being the first banned. This board is really the place to be. This is really about marbles. Edna -

Wow! If about 10 or maybe more of us got together, what I show we could have. Fit for a museum. Great marbles! Edna

I love them too and I have a bunch of them. Maybe we should post Barton marbles next on a nicer thread. Edna

John Gentile Paperweights

I forgot to tell you nice buy. Maybe some of us with John Gentile's work can post it here. Edna
-
John Gentile, Star City, West Virginia made beautiful paperweights, Christmas ornaments, marbles, glass canes. He passed away about 3 years ago, not sure of the date, the shop was closed. Everything was sold. His father was Peter Gentile and he came here from Italy. All the sons John's brothers worked in the shop. John's wife Gertrude also worked glass. you can find information about them in paperweight books. John owned the shop. His children and grandchildren had no interest in glassmaking. i remember he told us about a grandchild who came and stayed a week once making up his mind about whether he wanted to keep the shop going. John told him that he would stay on and run the glass part and he could run the shop. This grandchild had a college degree and decided he couldn't make the money in glass that he could elsewhere. John told his wife Gertrude to sell everything when he passed. They carried out his wishes. Edna

Marble King Of America, Scott Patrick

Brian, the post that started all of this was Griff is the man. Galen's post stayed up several days and then Galen removed his post. You'll have to go to MKA to read what Griff said. It did not belong on this board or in a thread praising Griff for defending us. Edna -
Here Brian, read this thread.

Brian, you must have missed it. Galen is the one who brought the post over. David said not a word about Galen. He was complimenting Griff for posting an objection to me, Sue, Steph, Felicia, Carole, etc. being called those names. Galen brought the filth over. Edna -
Ken Schneidereit Kevin O'Grady - 3 inches plus Back of the same marble Kevin makes his own colored boro glass and a lot of it has aventurine in it. Also Kevin O'Grady. I believe this is the only one like it. Kevin told me I had bragging rights as Brian Bowden was there first and he missed this one. Rich Hollingshead - this marble is hollow Kris Parke More Kris Parke Another Kris Parke Marble by Stan Skipper back of Stan's marble Collaboration marble by Filip Vogelpohl and John Rasmussen. Filip made the marble. There is a vortex inside that can be viewd through the clear places on the surface. Rasmussen did the beautiful elaboration on the top of the marble. I'm told Rasmussen is known as the father of boro glass. Closeup of Rasmussen's decoration.
