  1. How modern Marble King. These guys were added to my collection 10+ years old. Duffy's screen name? Don't think so, so far.

    Holy Cr*p!!

Guys.... Give us a heads up when forum software changes. I wasn't sure I was in the right forum. Seriously nice, but things are going to have to be gotten used to.
  3. Spreading the love. I've already posted this on AAM and LOM and am pretty sure these are Vitro. Now I'm try to figure how HTF they are. Pete on LOM has one in his private collection and says they are HTF (in that he's never seen another). I've not seen another, but then I've not been collection for the past 10 years. All comments are welcome. ----- Did some marble trading with a fellow collector and I put one of these cats-eyes in the trade. Then I was asked who made it. Yeah sure... So here I am asking for help. Number of veins seems to vary. Some 4 and some 5. One and only one vein is overlayed with blue. All just over 1/2". I thought I remembered them as Vitro. Edit:..... Forum software has changed!!! Very confused for a while.
  4. I have to admit I'm a little self-conscious showing folks my beaters, even when I love them. "Serious Collectors" seem to only want perfect spheres of glass and I guess that's what I aspire to. At the same time, I don't have unlimited funds and I'm more than willing to accept something less than perfect. I collect marbles because of their variety and their beauty. And I still can believe some kid used my Peltier NLR shooter for what they were manufactured for.
  5. One on the nicest '9's I've seen. Melted pontil. A bit under 14/16"
  6. Big German handmade. 1 11/16". Don't get too excited, it's been polished. But I still love the look and it only cost me $20 plus the cost of polishing.
  7. Thanks Ron. Saw you posted the same over on AAM. At least I know where to put it.
  8. A couple of my latest Pelts. First is a transparent blue base with orange ribbons and number two is a six ribbon transparent green base with white and salmon ribbons.
  9. I'm not even sure this is oxblood. Digging through a bag of so far unidentified swirls this turned up. Any opinions?
  10. Bob Block has one for "Buy it Now" auction on Ebay. Except for the fact I think my is nicer they look identical.
  11. So a while ago I posted some pictures of a marble on AAM that turned out to be a Peltier Blueberry Citrus. This evening I happened to take a close look at a domed display that I've had out for years and this one caught my attention. I *think* this is also a Peltier Citrus type. Comments.
  12. Thanks.. Very cool. Always wondered what the technology was like.
  13. I've posted this elsewhere, but I really should post here on Steph's Study Hall. Matched color set of Ravens. Rows 2,4 and 6 are browned based Ravens. 2 and 6 have green swirls and 4 has blue swirls.
  14. I quit collecting a bit over 10 years ago. Recently restarted and have been going through boxes that have been in storage for all those years. This morning going through a box of packaged marbles, I came across a newspaper wrapped thing. Firebrick core. Glass covered. I vaguely remember that this was part of the machinery that produced Akro Corks. Comments are welcome.
  15. Darn... It is hard to get a decent picture of the interior of a clear marble. Clear glass is almost completely clear of bubbles and the green banana is *full* of aventurine. All those light specks are reflecting aventurine.
  16. I have a *single* aventurine banana in clear glass. Can't for the life of me get a good photo tonight, but this guy sparkles. Peltier or Bogard?
  17. I'm 68 I *really* hate seeing these notices. No, I don't mean I don't want to see them. I mean, it's starting to make me aware that us old farts are dying off. Sigh... Condolences to his family and friends
  18. Scott Patrick did some Guineas, though not any peewees that I know of. My best friend has a modern one I gave her years ago that was pretty nice. I'll have to see if I can borrow it to take some pictures.
  19. All this info gave the right question to ask google. It's manufactured by the French company, Portieux Vallerysthal. In business from 1880's until present, though they've been bankrupt and changed ownership a couple times. Can't find when these guys were made in that timeline. Progress....
  20. Yeah, that would be nice. Unfortunately... I did notice tonight looking the two pieces over the the walls of the basket on the amber are noticeably thinner that the blue. I'll keep digging.
