    Zebra?

Aventurine isn't always green. Peltier's early black ribbons will occasionally show bright sparkles running through them.
  2. I do, but within reason. I'm actually grandfathered in to AT&T unlimited data plan, but I don't want piss anyone off. I used it when I *really* need a fast connection. Most of the time I survive just fine with dialup.
  3. I've got a number of Pelts in MCS colors with seams. I don't call them Multi Color Swirls. Maybe NLR and maybe Rainbo.
  4. Northwest Oregon. 1 mile up a dead-end gravel road. 3-4 miles from the end of cable TV. 9 miles from nearest city. Now that said, I wouldn't change my living conditions for anything. Love living in the country and while I do miss having fast connections, it gives me an excuse to go into town to some pubs I know with open wifi for a couple hours of beer, burgers and getting caught up.

    Zebra?

Richard.. I think do think it's one of the early Peltier swirls (pre-National Line Rainbo). Are you finding any aventurine?
  6. Have to smile. My only contact with the internet is over dialup. And not by choice.
  7. Honestly, I don't know where the name came from. It's basically a collector name. Here's a discussion over on All About Marbles about submarines. The description I used (and it was confirmed) was:
  8. Looks hand gathered and so it could be a pontil, or it could be damage. Kind of hard to tell.
  9. Veiligglass. And I agree. Winnie IDd one over on LOM that looks a lot like this.
  10. Here's a Peltier Superman Submarine. Blue base, Red/Orange ribbons, NLR
  11. Very nice, but I'd say Clownish. Not a true Clown.
  12. Hardly a swirl expert, but I'd go with Alley. Don't feel like Ravens to me.
  13. I'm not a Master expert either, but I don't think this is one.
  14. Steph has got it. For me it's a combination of patterns and colors. Haven't seen a lot, but they tend to stand out.
  15. I've pretty much given up trying to tie them down any further then West Virginia. There's a couple of guys over on AAM who have some kind of magic ability that allows them to ID makers, but they also live very close to a lot of the former plants and have a lot experience. I just take the sellers word.
  16. Apparently. There was a discussion over on AAM yesterday. I haven't noticed it, as I usually do name searches.
  17. Love the color. No idea who made it.
  18. So, I guess I should join in. Jerry. On again, off again collector. Quit collecting seriously more than 10 years ago, restarted collecting this past November. Was a high-end machine made collector back in the day and now just looking for cool Peltier Rainbos. A picture of the two old men. Rudy will be 18 in August and the other old fart turned 69 in March
  19. Sorry Steph. My Dad died 4 years ago this coming October. I spent time with him on his last day holding his hand, though he was heavily sedated and probably didn't know I was there.. It's hard to loose anyone, but to loose a parent is especially hard. Remember the good days.
  20. Yep. One of those lazy corks.

    Pontils?

Yeah. First marble is CAC. Second maybe also, but need more photos. And a great pontil thread. No need for me to add.

    Pontils?

I was hoping I had some pontil example online, but I don't. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll try to post a few pictures of different types of pontils tomorrow. Once you've see a few, you'll not mistake them.

    Pontils?

First one is a chip. Second is called a cold roll. Glass was a lttile too cool to completely smooth out.
