Been hauling some of the yard specimens across the country for 44 years. They came from the grandparents yard in Albuquerque. we found the larger petrified wood pieces in local stores.

Atomsite My grandfather was the fist civilian allowed onsite to collect specimens for the geology museum. Grandmother snagged some pieces to make paperweights for the grandkids(3).

The wife has decided to start collecting mineral specimens. Joining the local USGS group soon. I have specimens from my grandfather, who was Dean of geology at UNM for 30+ years. I have his USGS 50-year pin.
