  1. Last one for me today . . . The Sunday crossword is waiting.
  2. I recognized it as made from Vitrolite glass cullet. I recognize the marble too but I am having a senior moment and can't recall who made it. Maybe a few pics of different sides of the marble would jog my memory. It would be nice if you started a new topic with that marble because this thread is getting rather long and there are probably other people who might recognize it too.
  3. @Dave 13 I think some of the Chinese marbles are handmade and others may be hand gathered and machine rounded. They show lots of different types on the Alibaba website.
  4. Oddly enough, a yellow background will make the peach color show up better.
  5. In 3rd photo of your original post, the two marbles on the right are Alley and the yellow-based one next to them probably is too. And I'll bet the base glass on the far right marble in your 4th photo glows like nuts under UV light.
  6. Dang, it must have stuck out like a sore thumb!
  7. Hide the kids! It's an Akro gone wild!
  8. Cool mib, Dave. The interesting thing about this and similar marbles is that if you imagine the base glass is white and the white striping is another color you get some real insight into how the patterns on the surface of the opaque marbles are actually produced.

The first one looks more like a ceramic marble than the second one - the white is better.

I really don't know, Joep. It hardly even looks like glass to me - sorta looks painted or something. Either that or it's just really odd glass flow.
  11. Nice pattern on this one! That's a good looking slag!

It reminds me of a newer handmade from Bulgaria, Joep, but maybe someone else will have another idea.
  13. It might be a bit drab, Bruce, but being a CAC in that condition, it's not exactly common. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the "road" on this one - very scenic!
  14. This 9/16" reminds me of a tea rose . . .
  15. I also recognize this one as a PB.
  16. I have to ask, are you absolutely sure that all 7 of these marbles came in the same mesh bag? The reason I ask is because there is some debate about who made the big Paul Bunyan's and I am pretty certain that the little ones are Akro. The PBs are usually found in mesh or poly bags labeled as such by Ravenswood Novelty, or in mesh bags labeled "Genuine Old Fashion Marbles", where there is one PB and some smaller Ravenswood marbles. If all of your marbles were in the same mesh bag, it could suggest that the PBs were made by Akro, since I don't think Akros are found in Jobber packaging.
  17. I really like marbles and have a hard time even giving up nice common examples. I mean you can always find pics to look at but it's just not the same as being able to fondle them. lol
  18. I'm giving downsizing serious thought but it's sort of a traumatic prospect.
  19. Maybe a transitional on the first, if not, I'd say Alley. The second one is very nice Alley.
