  1. I am trying to get some perspective on the "cane". How big is the marble? What it the diameter of the shaft? Might it be a pre-laser pointer?

    Bird Is The Word

Nice pic, Bob. The bird does look like it's posing for you - rewarding patience, perhaps?
  3. The cane is nice. Keep us posted on your listings!
  4. That is a super box and it appears to be in great condition too - very nice.

    Modern Marble Kings

This is nice, Edna - thanks. You have some great examples. Are those AV Cat's Eyes the ones they called Pixie Dusts or something? I got a couple of outstanding ones from Beri at the Sistersville show a few years back. All this MK talk reminded me of the piece Beri did on the Colbert Report a few years ago. It was a pretty entertaining little segment: http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/videos/h0bv7g/america-s-job-loss---beri-fox.

    Post Your Peewees

I agree that control of size during production was not that precise but I think your 41/64" mib would sort with the #1s and not the #0s, if they were sorting for size. At least that is how I understand it.

    Post Your Peewees

It seems that the way they sized marbles, #000 would have to fit through a 1/2" hole, so would not be any larger than that, while #00 would be any that would not go through a 1/2" hole but would fit through a 9/16" hole. I thought that was why someone decided peewees had to be 1/2" or less, because it was the smallest sizing hole vintage manufacturers used for toy marbles. There may have been smaller sizes for special commercial applications, but I don't think I have ever seen reference to a #0000 toy marble.
  8. Very peculiar, I have not seen anything quite like it and I have no idea what it is. I wonder if it was a game piece or part of a toy or something.
  9. Sweet, Thanks for the great pic - just what I was hoping for. I can see how outliers of either type might be a tough call. The colors on the Primas are really close to some Alleys but the Primas are all HG aren't they - no real swirls or seams?
  10. They are all crazy cool. And I am with Steph on the broken cane - it makes me think of a bird cage.
  11. Thanks again Galen, How about a side-by-side shot . . . or is that one? jk lol
  12. I like Mike too . . . and I know him! lol
  13. Thanks, Galen. To which are you referring when you say, "But now having half a dozen of the later 2 seam types", AAs or Primas?
  14. It was all good until your, "Buy them for a quarter and sell them for a $20. You got to love it!", statement. Heck, I like JABOs and DAS too. But I thought that statement was in reference to the ones that look like vintage, which you mentioned in your previous sentence. Do you advocate buying JABOs for a quarter and selling them as vintage for $20? If not, why did you say that? And if so, why would you say that? That's why I thought you were just trying to be goofy or offensive, and that is why I responded the way I did. Seriously, what does "Buy them for a quarter and sell them for a $20. You got to love it!" have to do with wanting to see more JABO and DAS marbles? You know that pot has already been stirred plenty.
  15. I like the ones that bounce like super balls best - still haven't found one though, but I'll probably keep trying. This thread is just for saying goofy stuff, right? Or are we supposed to offend people? Just let me know, I can go either way.
  16. I thought you might say that, and I don't disagree. So what are the tell-tale differences?
  17. And quite a bit more rare, aren't they?
  18. Cool pic, Bob - definitely "fallish". And I really like that Master presentation box. I'll bet lots of kids were begging for one of those. Also, I think Bing (1) and Google (2) designate bots from those companies, which are ingesting the content here. Or maybe that's what shows when a searcher accesses a page from search results on one of their engines.
  19. I agree with Lloyd that the gray one appears to be stone. And the first does look Akro/Master-ish Steph, Your thoughts seem reasonable. I have seen many translucent agates that children could easily have referred to as moonies - some whiter and even more moon-like than this one. If, as you say, people were referring to moonie marbles before glass marbles were produced, such agates would seem to be top contenders for the monicker.

    Jabo?

    I think Steph is right.
  21. This should be fun. I like oddball stuff. Unfortunately, I don't have any unusual handmades, not even pics.
  22. These sure look like they could be Vitros, a few more than others, but . . . ?
  23. Great group, the blue and orange combinations are nice.
