  1. I think this one looks a bit more like your OP. Am I getting warmer?
  2. The colors are great on yours, Duffy. I think this may be a washed-out version.
  3. One of these days, I'm going to have to start paying more attention to Marble Kings. I've got a bunch that I haven't looked at in many moons. Someday, I'll have to post some of the more interesting ones and see what I can learn.
  4. Dang these patches, the more I look, the more I see a Comet. The colors just don't look Akro to me.
  5. I've been waffling over it for so long . . . if it's there, it's definitely in the patch. They're pretty distinctive marbles. Do folks call these anything other than P&Rs?
  6. Orange and blue is always a great combo. Is it Master?
  7. Hey Duffy, These seem sorta similar. I've been looking at 'em for years and still haven't been able to convince myself they're oxblood. What do ya' think?
  8. Nice article, Duffy. Thanks for posting it. I'll bet Bob's talking about the second one here: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/17784-marbles-for-sale/page__hl__%2Bmarble+%2Bking. It is a cool marble.

    Some Favorite Cairo's

    Here's a few of my favorites . . .
  10. Super news BJ! I hope you're taken care of quickly! P.S. Look at Izzy's eyes!
  11. Nice, Don. Do you know if these were marketed seperately as playing marbles or if they were packaged with something else? This type of packaging for a 24 count seems a little odd to me. Any more info on this packaging?
  12. There are a few I'd like to take a closer look at. Hopefully, I'll get a chance . . .
  13. Thanks all. I really appreciate the responses!
  14. Hi Folks, I think I remember hearing that there were no Peltier Rainbos that show a "uranium-green" glow under UV. Although I am pretty sure I have a feathered Peltier slag with a vaseline base around here somewhere. Are there any other Pelts that show that type of UV-reactive glow or are they all thought to be Kokomos? Any thoughts about this?
  15. That is a beautiful piece. The craftmanship is excellent - great symmetry.
  16. All but the two upper left ones in the last pic look like they could be Heaton (not too sure about the black-based ones either). And while one of Heaton's nicest marbles, IMO, was the orange/red swirl on a pale blue base (I think that's the one you might be thinking of), the colors on the one you show don't really look right to me - that one looks a bit more like St. Mary's Alley to me.
  17. It's a big one - pretty cool.
  18. I agree with Galen here, the use of canes doesn't seem likely to me. How about this: CAC is famous for colors that do not mix or bleed. One of the most interesting things about this cullet is that it is not a homogenous mixture. It was obviously molten, or at least partly so, and yet the different colors of glass remained separate. Guineas are, essentially, veneered marbles. Could they have put a mixture of differently-colored small glass beads or bits, made seperately in batches and processed to a fairly uniform size, into the "veneer pot" and then applied that molten heterogenous mixture over a base glass? I'm not smart enough to know how they may have actually done this but, in principle, it seems pretty strainght forward. Am I crazy?
  19. Me too - it's giving me an old Alley vibe. Is it a little oversized?
  20. Duffy, you get an "A" for creativity . . . is that your dinner those marbles are sitting on? lol. It looks so cool! . . .but now I'm hungry.
  21. Cool Peltier, Duffy. I think some folks call those a Santa Claus . . .the name is dedicated to Guy Gregg, if I am not mistaken. Chuck G. would know for sure. I don't think they're too easy to find. I had one but it was beat to heck.
  22. Hmmm . . . it does look kinda familiar. I think it might have been attached to a paddle by a rubberband at some point in time.
  23. Well, that sure cleaned up nice. Merry Christmas, Ronnie.
  24. Very nice, Winnie. Kees did a great job. Merry Christmas and happy new year to both of you too!
