  1. Have you ever seen just "Champion" on a mesh bag?
  2. Clyde, CB seems to think that those mixed bags were one of a kind and only put together for the advertising campaign. I'd be interested to know if anybody, other than the folks who were there at the time, has ever had one in hand. I have the same 100 ct bag and header but it has all St. Mary's Alleys in it. On another note, is it odd that I don't see any trace of a verticle seam on the advertising card bag?
  3. They were packaged in mesh bags, for sure. And I'm pretty sure I've seen Champion Jr. headers on Poly bags too.
  4. RE: Chuck's box. Did Master ever package Akro marbles while Akro was still in business? I thought that the "Masters" did not leave Akro on the best of terms. And since the principals were from Akro, would it be too surprising that some of their earliest production might look similar? I'd guess the marbles in Chuck's box are early Masters. I edited this post because the last thing I would ever want to do is "fuzzle" Steph. lol
  5. Chuck, If I found one of those, I wouldn't even consider Pelt or MK. Am I missing something?
  6. Chuck, Is that slice from the Official Ringer Rules published by Master in the early 1930s one of the dividers?
  7. Craig, Are you saying you haven't seen marbles like those in the boxes you show as singles in the wild? Clyde, Nice bag, are you sure it's from 1957? If so, it seems some of those marbles must have been laying around for a good long while before they were packaged.
  8. I don't think the box is from Akro, and given the size and look of the marbles, I think there's a fair possibility they are dug.
  9. Wow Craig, Beautiful marbles - what a great find!
  10. Am I glad you figured out how to put pics up here - those are really nice!
  11. I can easily go with Galen and Mark - Rainbo . . . it's a bigger tent. lol. Regardless, it's the only one I have with green in the base glass. The base is transparent, it just has some green filaments in it. It's kinda cool. Thanks for the help all!
  12. Is green in the base uncommon?
  13. Just an observation . . . While the size and configuration of the two boxes you show are different, I'm thinking that the graphics on both are from the exact same sheets. If I am not mistaken, those are usually printed once and trimmed to a size that will fit the corresponding box (i.e., the additional marbles showing on the title bar of the longer box are folded over the edge and under on the shorter one - likewise with the other dimension).
  14. Notice the wording . . . "Vintage marbles with box", I'm thinking this person knows the boxes are not vintage . . . it's similar to "antique jar with marbles".
  15. Nice mibs, Doc. That one at the bottom of the group looks like an Irish Bengal Tiger . . . if there is such a thing.
  16. Nice Winnie, I like that red, turquoise and yellow patch with white and clear upper right - a great combination.
  17. Winnie, Oxblood or not, that marble speaks to me. I think it's really sweet!
  18. I really hope the person that bought this was looking at the marble he posted and not their own copy of the book and the pic he referenced. No returns . . . wow . . . and it's not like they even look that similar . . .
  19. I always enjoy seeing your creativity, Bob. Another interesting shot. I'll board the Akro bus too.
  20. Winnie, The seashell pattern on that one is really cool!
