Looks like Jesus has left the building from here, Lou. mike

Thank you, Marie, that was a nice post. You have always been nice enough to me. I didn't think what I said was that nasty, but I may be grumpier than you, after all, and I apologize. To everyone else, I'd like to apologize for all my lame attempts at humor. I think I have it out of my system now. Sometimes I forget that marbles is serious stuff. Some things should not be toyed with. mike

lordy, please don't.

Great pictures, marblemiser, and your tag line is choice, too.

Since handimon and Jeff Hale left, I have very rarely mentioned names in my posts, and have done so recently, only because I felt it was necessary. Names come and names go frequently here, and I forget them all. I was not picking on Edna or Steve, their names were just fresh on my mind. Sometimes there are outside agitators here, and you have the choice to either ignore them or make their day, and you always vigorously choose the latter. I'm a "declines to state" independent, and I'm not aware of too many buddies any more. and then, of course, I'm a straight-faced monotone, who can't spell OLL, so you can't tell I'm funny. ( OLL )

Dang. Misunderstood again.

My post in the "griff" thread that upset so many people and was taken as a negative remark, was meant as constructive criticism and a plea for tolerance. It was meant primarily for some likely decent people here, who sometimes get a little excitable and nasty, such as Edna and Sturtz, and a few people who look up to them as elder statesman mentors. Too often this board just jumps off a cliff, and it is very sad. msb

I'm not sure that it is strictly correct to say that aventurine is undissolved or unmelted metal flakes. I think it is the result of a special and very complicated heating and cooling process that allows these aventurine crystals to form. mike

Only Peltier had black aventurine in the 1920's and 1930's, as far as I know. They don't mention aventurine in their records, but they had a formula for black that they called special black, and it looks like a likely candidate for black aventurine glass by the ingredients. They also had a special blue, a couple special greens, and a special red, but I have never seen an example of that one. The mansion/jabo run had an aventurine that went black. mike b.

I pasted a note to myself on my monitor. It says "DON'T POST !" I'll let you know if it doesn't help. Not working, so far. mike b.

It was so nice to finally meet you, Windy, and young Rachel, too. I was sorry that there wasn't more hugging action as you left. The green shooter one was dug near the factory, I think it was experimental and not released because it was so powerful ugly. As I remember, Chris called it a Popeye, because it reminded her of spinach. It's darker in person. I can't wait 'til your next trip. thanks Windy, mike

That was a fine day, Bill, yep. By the way, the Peltier mansion is for sale. It has had some minor repairs, but needs a LOT of work. The dirt there is in great condition, though, and mostly untouched. mike

Thank you David, your apology is gratefully accepted. Occasionally, things get out of hand here, and I get a little grumpy. mike b.

I'm sorry to hear that Lou, because I have a lot of respect for you. I REALLY didn't want to milk this dead horse, but I recently learned that if I see something egregiously wrong on my internets, and I don't speak up, that is the same as condoning it. I truly had no alternative, and I am deeply sorry if my opinion offended anyone. mike

I don't know Griff, I read his posts sometimes, he never bothered me, but whether in or out of context, this particular post of his was not his best effort, so I was very relieved, and more so, surprised, to read here that it was such an honorable defense of women, which would have been just about my last guess. I've heard of the esteemed David C. for years, and when he started posting recently, I sent him some introductory marbles. He commented to me about the aventurine, and I told him I was a fool for aventurine, and he posted that I had said I was a whore for aventurine. I thought this was uncalled for, and I felt unsalted. "Fool" is in no way synonymous with "whore", and some of the delicate flowers here would see that word and read no further, believing that I actually said such a nasty. With or without bad language, the meanest, most vicious comments have been made by the decent, high horse riding, moral crusaders here. The only vendetta I see is that of David toward Scott, and it seems somewhat like the conservative politician preaching family values, caught pants down with the wife of another. Scott's board is rough and crude, rather like Scott hisself, when I go there I feel dirty, and while it's not as much fun as his Anything Goes, if it wasn't like that, I'd feel cheated and want my money back. Scott and his minions, as crude as they are, seem to pick on people they perceive as hypocrites or wussy-babies, and those here just make it too easy for them to resist. Somehow, Scott's moral values seem more honest and preferable. I rarely post there because they don't appeciate my humor, and I have wee tiny balls, and I pee sitting down, so I have to be very careful, lest they call me bad words, too, and hurt my little feelings. For the record, I am just a white trash nobody glass artist who has barely survived the last forty years at half poverty level, and I am quietly proud of this. I've been coming to the marble boards for eight years, and I've been truly offended only once, by someone on this board, something about Section Eight housing. Also, for the record, I'd like to say that Galen has more marble knowledge in his little finger, than I do. Keep your eyes peelt, my marbles may soon be coming to a playground near you. thank you kindly, mike b.

Ebay Auction Plug - Great Stuff This Week

Gropper had a contract with Peltier to sell their marbles from 1924 to 1930. Starting in 1931, Peltier sold their marbles under the Peltier name and Ottawa address. Most, if not all, of the marbles in that amazing box look Peltier to me, I'd guess about 1926. I don't see a milkie, though. mike b. -
Yes, I did, Felicia, thanks. mike b.
