  1. Thanks. Shot outside on a piece of typewriter paper.
  2. It's pretty hard to find a more 'minimalist' marble than this one. One and a half inches of nothing but black. Doesn't look like much in your hand, but in a good setting it becomes interesting. ( :
  3. Yes. I enjoyed the 'like button' comment. Because I sometimes forget that photos aren't just photos. They're also a shared recording of 'reality' at a given time. So Lloyd definitely gets the 'two pushes' for photos that can be enjoyed as friends of his, but also as things that would look really great on a high-class wall somewhere. ( :
  4. No insight, but geesh that's magnificent. You're obviously well-loved here, since none of the responses indicate that they hate you for having such a beautiful thing.
  5. From what I saw on the weather today it looks like there's another potential 'situation' for those in the Midwestern and Northeastern U.S. Once again, I hope that the 'snow-loving fools' (said affectionately) Steph and Ant get just the right balance of Nature's wrath to give them what they enjoy! Ha! Just saw my first Super Bowl commercial! It was the Snickers 'Brady Bunch' one. Saw it during my regular television stuff, and didn't realize that it was one of 'the' commercials until I looked it up on 'The Tube'. Pretty fricking hilarious! Looking forward to seeing more of them. It's interesting that these incredibly expensive ads are completely ineffective in terms of increasing revenue for the companies involved. But somehow they've become 'required', and are a modern 'art form' in themselves. I love them and think this is great! ( :
  7. Oh, poor sweet sweet innocent Darla! Who can't see Armageddon from behind those smileys! It's just going to get colder and colder until there's nothing left! Just kidding, of course! As a naturally-depressed person, I always enjoy your 'positive attitude' about things!
  8. I've never been a fan of the 'reserve' concept either. But in all fairness to Steven, I've never been a 'seller'. And with all the horror-stories I've heard that sellers often have to deal with, both from some of us 'buyers' and the 'system' as a whole, I'll give the 'benefit of the doubt' to whatever technique works best for them in the long run, even if I don't personally want to deal with it.
  9. Hah! The first is the one I didn't know until tonight. Not on the two albums I have. Guess it would behoove (another great word nobody uses!) me to find out if there's another album I don't know about and get it. ( :

Oh for the love of .... It's Sunday, isn't it? Sorry for my limited appreciation, but were the commercials good? ( :
  11. A 'scrubby pad' and some Comet or Ajax is the best approach, if food dye is anything like printer dye.
  12. Well, I haven't lied to any of my friends here yet, so I guess I'll stay honest now. I still think 'The Bangles' were great. The secret to really appreciating them is to listen to the 'B-sides'. I mean, 'Manic Monday' was okay, but nothing to write home about. And 'Walk Like An Egyptian' was just stupid. A good reason for the uncommon word 'insipid'. But they did some really good rock and roll stuff, as well as some songs which defy description. Here are a few I listened to tonight. I don't normally want video along with my music, but the one that has it here is kind of fun. I like the multi-generational retro approach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04HSg0YZi9E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlhRDpvaFFI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOd1lu_lo18
  13. ♪Martian Fingers, Martian Fingers!!!......♪ I look similarly after refilling my printer cartridges. ( :
  14. I'm one of the people who missed that one. Thanks! That's just ridiculously funny, and a great job by the weathercaster.
  15. It's looking like we're just going to get some rain here in the middle of the east coast US states. That's fine by me, but I do hope that Ant and Steph get some snow, since they both seem to like that sort of thing. ( :
  16. Whoops! Looks like my vision was a little blurry last night. ( :
  17. Is it okay to skip my two-cents (and over-valued at that) opinion and just say that it's a great-looking marble? Even more so in your photos than in the original ones. ( :
  18. Looks like a great deal on a really good looking 'motley crew'!

  20. I don't have one yet, but I've always admired the 'Bananas'. There's something very impressive, whether in marbles or anything else, about pulling off a design that's so complicated that it appears 'simple'. The honey-amber is particularly nice. ( :
  21. Thanks. In that case it's a really great after-market name. What else could you call them?
  22. both to the joke and to Ed's photo. 'Run, Forest, run!' also cracked me up. There's one important question that should probably be asked and answered here, just for the record. Did Peltier actually market any of their marbles using the 'Baseball' name? Or are we talking about marble community terminology? In the latter case, we're dealing with semantics. So it's really just a case of 'if you think it's a baseball, it is.' Although in practice, what most people probably want to know is what definition is generally agreed upon by knowledgeable marble people. I'm not one of those people, but my vote is for white base with distinct simple one-color stripes in the appropriate baseball pattern. Here's a favorite old photo of mine, where I'm being pretty 'loose' with my baseball definition. The marble in front at least has a perfect baseball pattern, and I think the effect of having a two-tone base is pretty cool-looking.
