  1. And I don't have any Roman marbles, but they probably were more sophisticated than this example -- for example, here's some fragments of Roman glass beads I have . . .
  2. Yup. Vitro hybrid. Minor weakness of mine . . .
  3. Unless it's a bifurcated Cobra hybrid, of course.
  4. I have a small Mocha -- either 5/8 or 3/4, don't remember which. And that's what this one most reminds me of, too. Haven't seen this color combo before, but nothing about the colors strikes me as wrong for the style or time period. FWIW.
  5. As far as sulfides go, you also just have to like sulfides. I don't, particularly, but fairly long ago, when I was collecting only handmades, I decided I really should have at least one. Mostly because of my self-imposed size restriction (nothing larger than 1 1/8") it was a tough project. Small sulfides were a little harder to find, and therefore more expensive. What a pain. But after a while I finally got a small dog sulfide in close to mint condition. And just as I suspected I would be . . . I was done, Still only have that one sulfide. But I didn't know they had fallen out of favor in general. Alley was pretty hot a couple of years ago.
  6. Oh. Moonsnake. That's it! Sigh.
  7. Moonie corkscrews . . . I like that . . . or Moonie spirals . . .

    Deep Thought

Back when I was young and crazy and living in Tallahassee as a student at FSU, we used to say: "All things in Moderation. Moderation is a small town in southern Georgia . . ." Although they may have changed the name by now. Haven't looked lately. There's also a Climax, Georgia . . .
  9. You call it a jetty. Nice jetty.
  10. Well, that handsome little purple cork on a white base loved me right back . . .
  11. I think in the beginning everything produced by the spinner cups was considered a -- generic -- spiral. That would include Onyx. But I'd guess that the Onyx type was the first to receive it's own name, seeing as how "onyx" was a word all of the early companies wanted to use for their slags (opaque white swirled into transparent base). I have an unnamed category for opaque spirals on / in translucent bases . . . failure of imagination. Probably they just called them spirals, too.
  12. Oh my, all of those are beautiful . . .
  13. What she said! Now I need the whole darn band!
  14. I don't see why not, with all this sunshine and whatnot . . .
