  1. I can't resist a nice chunky mica.
  2. I'd like a blue fizz myself! That Pelt called NLRs "Sunsets" (at least early on?) was a new one on me, too. Are there any more "Sunset" boxes containing marbles other than NLRs? Or NLR boxes labeled as such but without the "Sunset" stamp? Being box lite myself (except for my beloved Cerises) . . .
  3. I'd call it a Cherry Bomb too. In fact, I will.
  4. Okee doakee. Let's forget, for the time being, the NLRs labeled Sunsets by Peltier in that nice nice box. Let's just think about the marbles that collectors call Sunsets. You know the ones I mean. Why do you think the name "sunset" was chosen for that particular marble? Keeping in mind that most collector names for Pelts are color-combination names? Because it was blue? Because it was green? I don't think so. Maybe some collectors, for some reason, have tried to expand it into a "type" that's construction-based instead of color-based, but that's another issue. To me, anyway. If you want to define that type by construction I would suggest another name -- not a color-oriented one -- be used. We could have a naming contest. Except for Galen, of course. But mainly, after waiting so long for a green fizz to come to my house, I ain't callin' it no Sunset.
  5. We could really test ourselves -- especially with some letters -- and start all over again. Like with . . . Alloway
  6. I can't distinguish the white ribbons from the crescent-scan-highlights well enough to say. Are the ribbons thin or thick? (They could also be Vacor / Mega Roosters. Just can't see details well enough)
  7. Show me? Still not gonna call no blue or green marbles Sunsets, but . . .
  8. Shoot. It didn't take. I'll try again.
  9. As good as AMMM is, it ain't perfect! Not blaming you, Ric! I've even had someone try to argue blue Sunsets to me. Blue. Snort.
  10. Oh, this one actually caused me pain . . .
  11. Dunno. There are 2 St. Mary's Alleys in the lot. Like to see more shots of the blue-and-white striped one on the right. Looks like it might be like one I have that's Czech . . .
  12. Yep. And there are only certain chemicals that will produce certain colors, no matter what different proportions and additives are used . . . Certain color combinations may be more prevalent in one or the other company's marbles . . . but it seems to me that the only colors that can be tied to a particular maker with certainty are the "electric" colors of Christensen. Call me crazy.
  13. Boy, yellow sure is refreshing . . .
  14. ^^^ That there. No green Sunsets. None. Line in the sand.
  15. >> piteous weeping <<
  16. Sort of. I can see it being glazed ceramic of the fancy bennington type. Depends on how you squint your eyes when you look at it.
  17. I'd say CAC too. The Alley version -- to me, anyway -- seems a little "fuzzy" where the colors meet . . .
  18. Maybe I'm just tired, but to me it looks like it could be a fancy bennington. Maybe I should go lay down.
  19. BOB! Where's Bob? I finally figured out a way to resize . . .
  20. I gotta look up the Mochas. Seems like I remember them being Dutch . . . and maybe a little earlier than the variegated ones above. But it wouldn't much surprise me if it were from the Standard Toy Marble Co. Hardly anything about marbles surprises me anymore, my uncertainty level having risen . . .
