Does anyone have any details on how many Furnace runs went down at Champion ?
-
Bo, As im sure you know there are a lot more types of Champions, those are only a few commonly known to collectors.. Like these guys here, there pretty basic, but the purple & caramel champs are a bit harder to find than the other two color combo's..

I'm hoping this thread will get filled with some good info and pictures, i think the Wv Swirls go over looked and are dismissed by many due to how hard it can be to id them, thus they go in a pile and are never really sorted. If we can maybe help people understand a bit more about the Wv Swirls maybe they will be more adapt to collecting them. What does the future hold for these Beauty's ? imho i believe we are going to see a major jump in Value and they are going to become extremely collectible in the very near future. Please feel free to point out any mistakes or add to this as i am not 100% the dates are correct. A little info on Champion Agate: The company started in 1938 and ran up until 2005 or 2006 if im not mistaken, and was based in Pennsboro, West Virginia, where they produced some REALLY REALLY nice collectible swirls. You had you older swirls which where Pre- 1970 that was made with a variety of bases including Opaque, Transparent and Translucent. This was also the time the famous "Champion Corals" where produced (See pictures below). Then you had your 1970's Champion marbles, not many pretty marbles where produced in the 70's, Champion had went on to produce Game marbles, these game marbles didn't have much character or wild colors so as far as collectible they rank pretty low in my opinion, but are still collectible by the simple fact that they are Champion and Vintage. Mid 1970's starts to roll around and we seen some "Champion Agate Bicentennial" Swirls emerging i am not certain yet on the exact year these where produced but i think this is a pretty close guess. Another marble that was made around this time was the "Champion Agate Ketchup & Mustards which if im not mistaken where produced for a Hot Wheels Promo (see picture below). 1980's Yowzers now the 80's have arrived and Champion runs what we call a "New Old Fashion" these marbles are fairly easy to tell apart from the older Champs, the glass has a bit more sheen to it and there wasn't a lot of color combo's ran of these. This was the year we seen 3/4 sized shooters from Champion Agate (see picture below). Around some time in the 80's they also produced "Electric Swirls" these are a bit more wild than the previous New Old Fashions, with brighter more vivid Electric colors running through them. I don't happen to have any so maybe some of you guys that do can post a few. 1990's Aww yes, early to mid 90's my favorite years of Champion Agate production, this was the time when they made Champion Agate Furnace Marbles which are highly collectible, they was never produced for release to the public, they vary in rareness and usually, not always, have annealing fractures. There were several types of these marbles ran. They where a product of a tank wash in which they used recycled cathedral glass that they bought from the Wissmuch Glass company in Paden City, WV. (see pictures below) I hope this helps even if in some small way, and please i encourage every one to participate, and even more so to share pics, i love looking at mib pics! I'm kind of looking for what ones are Rare or HTF and what makes them unique from the other company's, i know there are several collectors here who are in to the swirls so let's see some pics of your nice, weird, htf, rare, funky, common, KILLER Champs.

Cool, i wish the show would air already, i want to see it.

Hi Brian, At first i thought hmm does he know there are typos, but then i realized your descriptions where under the pictures I think i seen someone post some of those Red Jabos like that awhile back, the red looks really rich though, im not completely sure on them, did you get them with the rest of that batch ?
-
Just for future reference #5 Akro Popeye, Akro Patch, and probably another Akro patch. #6 A few Pelts, and not sure on the other two, maybe Master or akro. #8 MK #9 I don't think they are all Jabo #10 Champion or Ravens not Jabo..

Sure can, i didn't want to debate it because i get crap for being right let alone wrong lol and no not from Dani hehe she is one of my favorite marble boards peeps LINK TO DANI'S KILLER DILLER ! What ever they are, they are really nice mibs, Dani got a better picture of the green in these marbles, there pretty. Here's a pic of mine that i took when i first got it. Rick thought it may have been a Vitro, matter of fact he has a SUPER nice example one i am quite jealous of, it wasn't a bad guess, but when i look at them i see Akro & Vitro.. Heres a better photo of inside the mib.

Had a few more arrive just now. I like this one, i haven't seen many dark transparent Akro's with a seedy translucent white inside and a Orange Cork.

Hehe, sorry Dani but i thought of you when i received these. Got these guys in the mail, yesterday. I think these may be Masters, comparing them to one Dani posted on LOM as a Killer, they look like they are the same type of marble, i actually have another one just like these, but im having trouble accepting they are Master with the straight seams on everyone ive seen, so basically out of the 5 i have seen the seams appear to pretty straight for the most part. They have 5 or 6 different colors in them though and they are nice mibs. Here they are next to the one i owned previously, the one in the front is the old one i have, the two in the back are the new ones, i think they are the same type. Heres another one i purchased, i like this one, it has a baby blue like color ribbon that swirls around in the Matrix, it looks like it was probably dug and a double ingot. and i'm thinking Akro on this one. Here are some extras the guy sent for free, which i highly recommend this seller to any marble collector. I think they are some more Dug examples, all but maybe the green and orange and yellow and red. Then last but not least a couple of Pelt shooters, the Zebra has some light Aventurine, and the Superboy has a few fleas but still sits well next to the Zebra.

Yeah those guys get mad at Paylake owners, it's kind of lame really, the catfish population is higher than ever even after the commercial fishing, commercial fishing has been around for ages, it's nothing new, and 1500 pounds of in a 8 acre lake hardly qualifies as over populated lol Now lets not just show one side of it.. The Paylake industry is a multi million dollar business with 150 lakes in Kentucky, over 100 in WV and over 100 in Ohio that people have invested there life into by following State regulations and laws that have been put in place by the States. You got these greedy people ( http://brotherhood-of-catfishermen.com ) thinking we are pulling all the fish out of the river systems, and it's just not true, we have been seeing Bigger and Bigger fish every year, in the last 25 years of me commercial fishing the fish population has grown, and keeps growing... In the Markland pool of water 10 years ago the Blue population didn't even exists, now they are commonly caught and the new state record was caught this year at 96 pounds with 50 and 60's regularly being caught, and every tournament they have on the rivers there is never a problem with a lot of fish being weighed in with setting records every tournament... Most of the people engaged in this Paylake HATING are "River Guides" that charge a fee to take people out to catch fish, they also engage in commercial fishing them selves in the rivers and lakes for SKipJack and Shad and make lots of money doing this selling it to bait shops around the country !! Jeez a guy can't get any credit for landing big fish with out getting shit, it doesn't matter where they are caught, they where in the net on the bank, if i had i boat i would fish the river, i am not going to sit on a river bank and waste half of my life for some big fish, there are no big fish caught on the bank, that's lame.. http://www.southernohiopaylakes.proboards.com/ http://cincypaylakes.com/forum/ -

Yeah, all those where caught a local paylake, where they stock 1'500 pounds of cat per year in a 8 acre lake. 1500 pounds is not a lot fish when most of them weight over 30 to 90 pounds.. And then have them spread out over a 8 acre lake, good luck to anyone who thinks this isn't a challenge ! -
