  1. I have Vacor pee wees but I have not seen Vacor cross-thru pee wees. David
  2. Roundness is a marble attribute that seems to have held sway pretty strong through the ages. They do roll better. And with a handmade like this one which is about as basic a latticino as you can come by everything else about it really needs to comply to acceptable standards. I'm still reeling from a David Salazar 'Hops'/Beer marble that was returned to me a cpl. months ago due to the complaint that it wasn't round or perfectly round. You couldn't have told by me but I guess when I did get it back and rolled it across a flat table it sorta swerved. Was a little non-plussed on that one but promptly refunded; then the buyer kindly reminded me that I'd actually sent it to him on approval.....duh! Swift! David
  3. Not scarce. Individual ones pop up all the time. The trick is to put together a set of six different(color combination) white x-thrus in the 5/8" size. I have a set of six that are predominantly opaque and a set that is transparent vanes. Then you graduate to a set of these white x-throughs in 3/4"+ size or maybe it's 13/16", can't remember and I do not have a set right here in front of me. Oops, I am so slow at times or just skim and miss out on the salient point. You did say 7/16", didn't you? Double oops! Yes, that is exceedingly scarce. You are right! David
  4. When they're let loose on a plane I want to be in a seat right behind you during take off! David
  5. Thanks for reminding me. Yes, it was Ron Simplican and he regularly had a significant display of Ravenswood marbles. One year I purchased a 3/4"+ Ravenswood Brown marble from him which I have to this day. When I was attempting to obtain opinions around the country in 2002 regarding the vaildity of the CAC Exotics I repeatedly contacted Ron by mail in hopes of some input from him because I had been told he did not consider them legit. Unfortunately he never responded but I do not fault him because of that. My understanding is that he frankly did not want to have anything to do with the subject and personally chose not to collect them when he easily could have. All the other eleven or so serious CAC collectors to the person considered them legitimate and on their say-so I responded with a Statement about the marbles to the general marble community. I really thought I had been even-handed about the controversy. Keep in mind that I was asked to do this by a collector who thought they were fakes and who was exceedingly disappointed in my conclusions. Basically he told me to go to hell! David Chamberlain
  6. Contact Peter Caparelli at Land of Marbles as he literally has a love affair with this particular marble and is researching it. DC
  7. No outer decoration, right? I think it would be called a 'Naked Solid Core' then. I'm not 100% sure of that if the solid core actually reaches out to the edge of the marble. I think for it to be naked it has to be sort of floating free in there! Or sumthin' like that. David
  8. Bogard! Check my Bogard article at JoeMarbles.com David
  9. I guess the die is cast and that's cool that you got a price adjustment. I see the group pretty much as an 'entry level' assortment mainly common and the kicker would, of course, be condition. Just one nick and your possibles are diminished. Still a fun group. David
  10. Hey Bill, I think you're slippin' into senility as you've posted this beauty before, of course, with my own mental state computer-wise I can't rightly recall where. Better watch out Ron with all that time on his hands now is gaining on you. Don't want nothing breaking up your perfect team.....David
  11. O.K., where's those auction pics of Richard's stuff? David
  12. Any provenance info. on the two? I'm stumped! David
  13. Marble king and photo posted by Patry in one of the back pages! David
  14. Very nice. Looks mostly like a single vane to me and the purple is pretty enuff even if it is a blend to provisionally qualify this as a 4 color single vane. David
  15. Kevin, I did finally get around to checking out that Ravenswood post by Alan. Wonderfully informative. I have some disagreement with what have been determined as 'premium' types and no so premium. Keep in mind that I've gone through numerous 50 lb boxes of Ravenswood marbles from that 1987 find and practically done a statistical study of them. There are varieties that are so uncommon and so nice that they might only amount to a pound or two in 30,000 marbles. In the main though it is a great teaching thread. Thankfully Ravenswood marbles are still easily affordable otherwise I suspect they'd be in for contentiousness as much as Christensen marbles are in some respects. David
  16. Hey, at least join the club. Fryers of common marble unite! David
  17. I don't have the foggiest as to current market values on these two but I've a thought or two on the price discrepancies. Sometimes there not being enough of a marble out there to begin to generate competitive interest will hold it down price-wise. Also, I believe, the Golden Rebel has the advantage of a long-established serious collecting interest (Castle & Peterson recognition early on). Therein lies the disparity me thinks.
  18. It's a serious temptation to 'compare' this to a Joseph's Coat. Sorry, I couldn't help myself! And yes, the Hardy's Akro Museum is the 8th Wonder of the World. David
  19. Champion over Ravenswood forsure. I'm pretty sure Champion now that you jog my memory. And Windjet sure is blowing air..... David
  20. That might even be questionable as Ravenswood. Count me in as a Low Sodium marble guy. David
  21. Kinda funny when you think about it - older MKs in a fantasy bag; sort of contradicts the whole ploy. What is the world coming to? Next we will be having 19th Century German swirls in fantasy bags! Do you think we'll have ID problems with that? David
  22. I pick up 'subject' yo yos more than I do manufacturers. I'm thinking that Alox yo yos have got to be a tough one to come by but I don't know the intracacies of yo yo collecting. David
  23. Definitely the B,Y&W one. The other is problematic. David
  24. I've always considered my Freddy Krueger yo yo a totally off-the-wall yo yo variation. I even have an extra in its bubble pack(1989). I do consider Duncan the King of Yo Yos. David
  25. Yeah, great design on your marble Avatar, an open secret design known to Jabo enthusiasts. David
