Almost all in your group photo are clearly Akro corkscrews. There are a couple I would like to see more views of before I was sure. Basically the top riw, especially the top left and top right.
-
Hello. Welcome. Yes, only Akro made corkscrews. It is possible that other marbles could be confused with Akro corks. For example, a Japanese transitional might resemble a corkscrew. However, when we say something is a corkscrew, we are saying it is Akro.

Even though there is a resemblance to Peltiers, you have two patches. The originals were on Peltier's Peerless Patches. Peerless Patches have a single patch. I apologize for not making that explicit before. I assumed you knew what a Peerless Patch style was.

You have a wide mixture of marbles in your last post. Bottom line: There is old Tom Mix and modern Tom Mix. The old Tom Mix is on Peltier Peerless Patches. The modern Tom Mix is on modern marbles. Yours is a modern Tom Mix.

Akro did some logo marbles, but as far as I know only Peltier did the Tom Mix back then. Your marble doesn't look like Akro. Your online searches are coming up with questionable results. This marble in the middle here which was called a Vitro -- that is a Marble King from 1955 to 1965. Your marble is not the 1960's version. The modern Marble Kings have two patches -- the only difference between yours and standard modern Marble Kings is that the standard pattern is for the two patches to be on opposite ends. But I am still reasonably sure that yours is a modern Marble King. And I am positive that it is not a vintage Peltier or Akro.

Hello Garrett. Welcome. The original comic marbles were on Peltier Peerless Patches. Your marble is not a Peltier. I think it's a Marble King. So yours is a modern reproduction.

Love to hear about people actually playing. I've practiced shooting a little, but my husband laughs at me. Not because I'm good or bad. But because it's so hard for me to pick a marble that I'm willing to chip. I have a small group though just for practicing.

Hi, Has. Welcome. I think these are modern and probably not valuable. Likely made in Asia. However I don't recognize the characters at all. They might be valuable to someone who recognizes them.

Bah ... yes, you are correct, sir! My great-uncle Charlie Sears was an architect for the Sears Tower, now called the Willis Tower. How cool would it have been if Charlie's brother Willis Sears had been the one to do the work!
-
My great-uncle helped design the Sears Tower. My step-cousin created Microsoft's Clippy. My brother-in-law was Secretary of State in Oklahoma.

Congratulations! You'll have fun sorting.

When a number of collectors who may not spend as much time as you do with Vacors and cat's eyes and modern Marble Kings get tricked into thinking one of these cheap modern marbles is a CAC or rare Master or uncommon Peltier, we can give a helpful "ahem, this marble is on my end of the spectrum, don't be fooled!" It has happened a few times over the years. Happened again on Facebook. I was the lone Vacor vote among a sea of CACs yesterday and this morning until a couple of heavy hitters finally found the post a few minutes ago and firmly agreed with Vacor. Glad they showed up, since I was getting my head politely patted, but I did my part.

A little plug - Vitros on the Bay
Steph replied to Kimbernugs's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Ending soon .... -
Been chatting with Ralph Lucht and he postulated something I don't remember hearing before. Proposal: Guineas weren't actually made at Christensen Agate Co. They were made by Arnold Fiedler at Cambridge Glass from canes and rounded on modified MF Christensen machines. Then they were sold in limited quantities through Christensen Agate. Ralph has spoken with people relatively close to the source about this. Seems a touchy subject. Many are like me with no well-formed opinions about them and watch from the sidelines. Those willing to get into the discussion seem to have strong opinions and positions are quickly fortified with no movement. And Guineas remain mysterious. So, I _am_ intrigued by the idea that Guineas are actually Fiedler Cambridge marbles sort of jobbered through Christensen Agate rather than made there. So I am starting a new discussion on it!

I mean thanks, Chad! So far so good. ❤️

I have seen sealed banana bags with marbles with stripes like that.

Possibly an Akro patch. The colors aren't standing out well enough for me to be able to get a clear picture of the structure but from what I can see the pattern is good for Akro. However, not a Lemonade. A Lemonade has a moss agate base and is a swirl or a cork, not a patch.

Now I'm reading the comments and going, "oh yeah, that's the farthest thing from safe." But still, very interesting to see. Thanks for posting.
